Some updates

September 1st, 2006Esra'a (Bahrain)

I spent a couple of hours restoring our database, getting the archives listed by topic will be a bit tricky and time-consuming so I’ll need at least another day to work on it.

In a few minutes, I’ll be sending a mass e-mail to our regular contributors regarding some changes I’ve made in the posting process. Instead of having all of us post under one account and categorise posts by author instead of by subject, I’ve decided to provide a list of authors instead and create a separate account for each of us. The number of posts each of us produces is irrelevant, it’s the content that matters, so showing the number of entries each author published wasn’t really a good idea.

I will give each of you his or her username and log-in information so that your posts will be set to your name by default. This will make things less confusing and hopefully more organized.

Since we’ll be listing posts by topic and not by author, the category function is now used for its actual purpose. Add a new category if a topic doesn’t already exist. I’ll have to go back to some posts and sort them out by topic, but the ones I don’t get to will be listed under “General,” which is where all of our posts are right now. Don’t worry about doing any of this yourself, I’ll take care of it within the next few days. You just keep posting.

Also, I added some of your blogs and contact information in your profiles so that you wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of doing it yourself. I’d like you to keep your nicknames the way they are (name and country,) but feel free to change your passwords, contact and URL info.

I’m having trouble with the recent comments plugin. This is because I apparently suck at coding and I did everything manually because it’s easier and I find it to be more reliable. If anyone wants to help me out with this they’re more than welcome to, ’cause even wordpress support couldn’t find the problem. I’ll have to go through some php pages and fix my silly mistakes.

For now the site is done, and if you come across any problems please let me know because I’ll be focusing less on maintenance now and more on effective promotion.

Update: All e-mails are sent. If you didn’t get one, either e-mail me or post a comment here and I’ll send you the information required to continue posting.
