Why I Support the War in Afghanistan
Many Muslims will declare me a traitor for supporting such a war. How could I support infidels in waging a war against another Muslim nation? You see, the thing is that I don’t view such issues as an “us against them†sort of situation and I don’t necessarily view it as “oh the evil dirty kuffar are invading our Muslim landsâ€. Butcher and “piousâ€, “God-fearing†Muslim Saddam Hussein invading Kuwait, BAD. “Dirty filthy†American infidels liberating Kuwait, GOOD! Just ask the Kuwaitis
Before I begin I must state something. The fact that innocent Afghani civilians were hurt or killed accidentally by American bombs or NATO is a very regrettable and painful one. I hate it and by supporting this war, I’m in no way trying to lessen those peoples’ deaths or legitimize them. I believe in diplomacy and solving conflicts in the least violent possible means. War for me is the last option but it’s still an option. Accidents and innocent deaths are unfortunately unavoidable in war and I wish that wasn’t the case.
The case of the Afghanistan war is very different from that of Iraq. First of all the link between al-Qaeda and the Taliban was a very clear “in your face†one. I don’t believe it’s up for debate unless you’re one of those conspiracy theory nut heads thinking 9/11 was carried out by the American government or Israelis and that al-Qaeda is a myth which doesn’t exist. If you are, then I guess the US Embassy bombings in east Africa were also carried out by the US government too huh? On the other hand, WMDs weren’t found in Iraq and the link between Saddam and al-Qaeda is rather unclear. The issue is very debatable. Again, this isn’t the case with Afghanistan.
Secondly, the management of the war in Afghanistan has been much better than the huge mess that is now Iraq. Yes, the Taliban are making a come back. Yes they’re giving NATO and US troops a headache but overall I believe the war brought about a positive result as I expected it to. Aid for construction and development isn’t enough at the moment but I’m confident that in due time things will improve. The filthy Taliban are gone (even though not yet fully). Kabul is moving out of the Stone Age the Taliban put it in. Music can be heard playing in many places. Women aren’t forced into wearing burkas anymore, they don’t get stoned for being victims of rape (ah the irony) and they’re finally able to get an education just like men. Al-Qaeda training camps have been destroyed and the terrorist organization doesn’t have a strong hold like it used to before.
Did the war wipe out the terrorist threat? No of course not, but it improved the life of Afghanis and dealt a huge blow to al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. I think that is tax money put into good use. Plus, it’s not like you infidels are out there to suck our oil or steal our natural resources right?

IF you watch this film you might change your mind.
Alex Jones’ latest film covers in detail the proven history of government sponsored terrorism, and focuses on the 7/7 London bombings and 9/11.

Google used three times to keep Terrorstorm from climbing into the TOP TEN list. Google stops the hit counters, sets them back a few thousand, and sometimes even zeros them out. The three time that Google was caught doing this to Terrorstorm, Google said that this was “an accident.” Of course, after this, Google did not restore the hit counters to their correct settings.
Terrorstorm,
Cheesy propaganda for conspiracy theories is part of the problem, not the solution. Merely being loud, or being frequently viewed, does not make one right. I was an eye-witness to 9-11 from much too close, and very unfortunately my area of expertise is the repair and restoration of large buildings- so I know a thing or two about how they fail. The collapse of the World Trade Center buildings follows obeyed everything we know about physics and engineering and is in every way consistent with the “official” story.
All the conspiracy theories involve what any construction professional in NYC knows is absolute lunacy- things like the WTC having been fitted with explosives. When? During construction? Like hundreds of 30 year old charges are all going to go off in perfect timing?
You want to know another thing screwed up in the Alex Jones movie? He makes a deal over Silverstein using the word “pull”, and insinuates it is construction lingo slang for “Demolish”. Can you find 3 things wrong with this picture? I can. 1: We don’t say pull. We say “Demo”. 2: Silverstein is a senile geezer real estate developer. He doesn’t give orders to demo or not. 3: The whole idea that 7 WTC was demo’d later on purpose is absurd: even if the conspiracy was real, why in hell would it be important to knock down ONE MORE building? Can you imagine some government geek saying “Gee, we destroyed the Twin Towers, the marriot hotel, St. Nicholas Church, The Wintergarden, a parking garage… but its still not enough, we must do ONE MORE!” Yet, this is kind of insanity the conspiracy loons live by: they find one odd little bit of trivia, and they decide it is a clue to the big mystery. It is as if you heard the sound of hoofbeats outside, and reasoned: “Hooves? But there are no horses around here! So it MUST be a UNICORN!”
I hear all the time from these nutcases, who always think that if they don’t understand something, it must be impossible. They always start out “I don’t understand how…”
And I stop right there. They don’t understand. That much is correct. But you know something, I don’t understand how the internet works. I know steel and heat, but this idea that computers can make text show up on “web page” around the world, I don’t get it. So it must be all faked, then, right?
Do you want to understand? Get a degree in civil engineering and THEN put in a couple of decades of real world field experience dealing with structural failures of large structures. Then you will be ready to understand what happened that day.
Here’s a fun little project you can start with: Can a fire get hotter than the combustion temperature of the fuel? Before you blurt you what you think is the answer, study the design and operation of a cement kiln.
Here’s another. In addition to weakening, what ELSE does metal do when heated? Clue: check out how a mercury thermometer works. What do you think the effect of that would be on stressed riveted connections?

“Many Muslims will declare me a traitor for supporting such a war.”
Probably, and people have been murdered for such: thank you for your courage.
Terrorstorm, no offense I appreciate the link and everything but I’ve been a long time reader of Alex Jone’s infowars.com and have abandoned it long time ago. One word. Loooony. According to him Bin Laden is a myth and there’s no terrorist threat facing America. Now come on, are you serious??!! I myself am not American but I know better. Open your eyes. Maybe the Republicans are right about the Democrats not realizing the threat that’s facing them. Al-Qaeda is very real and it’s hell bent on killing Americans. Believe me it is!
The whole “being unconditionally united” mentality is destructive, I’m completely against calling any Muslim a traitor merely for having different opinions about something. Like the Muslim Zionists who can’t possibly be Muslims and in support of the right for Israel to exist. Or your own opinion above. People will always be intellectually diverse, and I have been called a traitor all the time for having thoughts similar to yours.
As for Terrorstorm, I used to think like you but only because I was in a state of denial. We can’t deny reality any longer, not when the evidence supporting the facts are overwhelming. True, there’s a lot of things that might have been over exaggerated and the U.S government may have used this “war on terror” to justify things that do not necessarily have to do with the terrorism they’re claiming to fight. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, however. Many of us in the Middle East have seen and experienced it first hand to think otherwise. But you don’t see the mainstream media reporting domestic terrorism within the Middle East, which is why many think this is a war on America or the West alone. It’s not. We suffer too, bigtime. That’s why it’s not safe to fall back on such conspiracy theories. Stand up and see what’s really happening.
The sooner we accept the facts as they are, the sooner we can battle this together.
The same filthy animals who opposed this war are the same ones who supported the Taliban’s slaughter of Shi’a Hazaras, just because they are Shi’as.
The Hazaras are very grateful for the invasion of Afghanistan, that’s for sure.
I think about the same like you, Drima, to the Afghanistan war & yes I see it also quite different from the ‘bad Iraq adventure’ – & it’s better to be called traitor than being an opportunist
As for Terrorstorm – I watched these conspiration theories video in full length (about) – Since youth I know this exaggerating , this mixing of truth with lies of a lot of wild guessing to demonize the unknown (just like p.e the lies of the Elder Scrolls). I noticed it here in Germany mainly in the extreme left or extreme right. Truth is made up to what they want to believe. Controversial opinions, testimonies or proof are totally ignored or despised as enemies propaganda. –
I am sure that everyone knows that the Pashtun oppressed the minorities in Afghanistan and the invasion actually helped the minorities, but what is happening now is not right. The so called government is run by the minority or am I wrong? This is not right if this is true. It reminds me of the typical white man tactic of the elder days where they installed a minority to control the majority. I frankly am thankful for liberating the minorities, but at the same time I am worried what the majority going to face in the future. Fact that the coalition and the media wrongfully calls every single attack as being carried out by Taliban when it is the Pashtun who are sick of this discrimination who are perpetrating it.
Same old shit, just a different place.
It is very enlightening to hear the Afghans and Pakistanis that I know discuss the situation. (Never with EACH OTHER, only to me!) Everyone blames someone else for everything!
If you are Afghan, the problems are due to Pakistani interference. If you are Pakistani, the problems are due to Afghan tribalism.
At least, thanks to them, I am one of the few Americans who can pronounce “Pashtun” correctly. In between the “Pa” and the “Tun” you make a noise like you have a fish bone stuck in your throat.
The real problem is this: How do we get a working, modern economy in Afghanistan? Based on what? What can these people do? Afghanis are very practical. Give them a way to make money, they will take it. If they don’t have a legal way, they will take an illegal way- Opium. So they need legal ways.

“The fact that innocent Afghani civilians were hurt or killed accidentally by American bombs or NATO is a very regrettable and painful one.”
Come on. Entire villages were arbitrarily destroyed. Harmless farmers iniscriminately arrested and tortured. That’s your fucking war.
The whole problem consists in America’s stupid arrogance… 3,000 people dead! On AMERICAN soil! We’ve been attacked on AMERICAN soil!
what the fuck?? Yes, of course, it’s horrible. The world should stop rotating. But what about the countless who died unnecessarily for THEIR neverending imperial ambitions??
Ben, I have to agree about the Afghan econoomy being problematic. I have never seen a photograph of Afghanistan that showed a plant. No grass, no trees, just bare earth. Since they are said to cultivate opium there must be crops somewhere but it is a very bleak country. It was a poor country before the Soviet invasion and has been at war almost continually for almost 30 years now, every day of which resulted in further destruction of the infrastructure on which an economy could be based.
Worse yet, Afghanistan has one of the highest fertility rates in the world, 6.6 children per woman. At that rate the population will triple every generation. More people, less resources means worsening poverty.
The model for recovery from a devastating war which leveled the entire country is Korea after 1954. In South Korea pre-war standards of living were not reached for about 10 years. And that was with South Korea having a homogeneous population who all speak the same language, a stable government, limited population growth, and huge amounts of American aid.
So far Afghanistan does not even have peace, let alone the beginnings of reconstruction. So while we must all hope for the best, we should not have unrealistic expectations that Afghanistan will be a flourishing country any time soon.
“I think that is tax money put into good use. Plus, it’s not like you infidels are out there to suck our oil or steal our natural resources right?”
There is no oil in Afghanistan. Just dirt and sand and dust. I enjoy how many, many ignorants liken the war in Afghanistan to the Iraqi war for oil.
THERE IS NO OIL IN AFGHANISTAN, PEOPLE. Why else is Afghanistan’s biggest export Poppies and marijuana and other botanical hallucinogens? Fertile soil, no oil.
‘Come on. Entire villages were arbitrarily destroyed. Harmless farmers iniscriminately arrested and tortured.’
so youve seen this for yourself or are you just guessing? or believing what your friend told u?
