Esra’a! This is great!
IF you can manage to get the attention of the mainstream media, the resulting publicity for good or ill can be a “Godsend”. I am sure there are enough reporters scattered in the vast media empires that will do whatever they can within limits to help promote the values of human rights. But it is just like the talent stars in Japan, there an active promotion of celebrity cults, for various purposes. The celebrity is actually a donkey carrying various messages and designs and promotional schemes for the sake of their “handlers”. Secondly the individual has been used by so many that they are very distrustful of strangers who can’t be seen as having no ulterior motive. Their ability to discriminate becomes dim.
However in this case, I would believe that the reporter is cautiously optomistic that this poor woman and her children can, through his efforts to publicize her case on Thanksgiving in the US, help her have a couple of better choices for her life than what she has now.
