"Explosion of Light"
The Islamic Republic has a language of its own to describe and call things. For example, the war with Iraq is officially called “the holy defense” and you so get used to hear the title “the great leader of the revolution” that you might even forget that they simply mean Khameneii. I am not familiar with any other culture so I can not conclude anything from this.
Any how, another one of these weird phrases is Khomeini’s famous quote “our revolution was the explosion of light”. He was even awarded the Nobel Prize in physics because of “exploding the light”, in a Persian joke.
When the “dawn decade” arrives, in which the IR celebrates its establishment, everywhere is decorated with quotes of Khomeini and others, many of which are seriously funny if you think about them outside the IR framework.
These days, the 28th anniversary of the IR, the same exact thing is happening all around Iran. Thanks to blogging, the world can have a taste of the ridiculous event. This picture is from Sharto. The yellow banner holds the “explosion of light” quote. The blogger has no comment regarding to the pile of fire extinguishers in the left, neither do I.

Sounds like a mix a bunch of Big Brother crap…also…it seems that at least Arabic is a rather poetic language…but to English speakers…it sounds like a bunch of horseshit…you know “the Mother of all Battles”. Bush has his “Axis of Evil”…but at least with Brits and Americans…we tend not to be so “colorful”…understatement is more of a tendency for looking cool.
This also is totalitarian Big Brother brainwashing crap for folks that are ignornant, can’t get other information, or just want to get pumped up.

I don’t know if criticism is the right word…you asked if “others” have this in their countries…and at least here abouts…no not too much of that kind of a thing…but of course there is propaganda….but also COUNTER propaganda

you know this is very true. some of the comments here are pretty stupid (the arash one). The akhonds have pretty much killed the culture. and just one thing: Persian (NOT ARABIC) is a very poetic language that has been dying under these leaders who are trying their best to kill Persian (the language)all together. we are losing our language, our writers, our poets daily, and we have to worship the illiterate morons as leaders of this country. I feel seriously sorry for all those who care at all about culture and live in Iran.
