Massive Kareem updates!

Author: Esra'a (Bahrain) - February 8, 2007

As we just stated on our Free Kareem campaign, there will be a worldwide demonstration on the 15th of February. Rallies have been confirmed in NYC, Washington, London, Ottawa, Rome, Bucharest, and quite possibly Chicago. As I said in the post,

Remember that rallies can make a difference. Even if you are only 3 people, you can get your message across. Please consider doing this for the sake of not only Kareem, but in the name of freedom of speech as well.

In more good news, we were recently contacted by the Carter Center saying that it may be possible for them to have President Carter send a letter to Mubarak “pleading with him to uphold freedom of speech and allow Kareem to go free.” We are aiming for a phone call! Let’s see how this goes.

Remember, the trial is going to be held on the 22nd of this month (Feb), so we don’t have much time to act. Let’s do our best now, and please keep your thoughts and prayers with this young man!

If you missed the pictures from the New York rally, click here to see them.

Go team Kareem!

Update - We’ve just been informed that two representatives from RSF will come to Cairo on 18-19 Feb. to meet the Minister of Justice and other officials about Kareem.

This is great, if there is a demonstration to which I can go to, I would love to know about it. I wish Kareem the best.

Well, it would be amazing if we could get a rally in Israel. It only takes one person to make this possible, so if anyone is interested in leading a small rally please let us know. It doesn’t take much, all you need is a small group of people and some posters that get the message across, and later, pictures of the process/results.

The only Arab country to hold a rally was Bahrain. You guys should organize one in Egypt too. I keep telling people but no one wants to do it! Come on.
