Kareem's own father wants to kill him
Here’s something for those of you who thought that Kareem’s case couldn’t get even worse than it already is. Below is a link to an article that states that former Al-Azhar student, Abdul Kareem Nabil Suliman, has tarnished the reputation of both Egypt and Islam, a religion which he repeatedly attacked mainly on the internet. His father notes that Kareem should have 3 days to repent and if he fails to, then his death would be justifiable as it is God’s will.

If anything is an insult to Islam, it’s Kareem’s father and the likes of him. And it is no secret by now that Egypt’s reputation is embarrassing due to the existence of cases like these, and the extremists which Egypt’s political culture seems to be thriving on.
We are with you all the way, Kareem. For more information about the case, do visit our Free Kareem campaign.

I wonder if he was intimidated into making that proclamation.
Kareem has spoken about his father before.
He seems even more extremist than what Kareem once described.
This is truly heartbreaking. Kareem needs freedom, and then he needs a new life somewhere far away where he can continue blogging and live among people who support him as a human.
So Kareem’s struggle & consciousness for freedom started in a strict, narrow & conservative parents house. – It so sad that so often parents sacrifice their own children if they don’t fit in the role they had planned & designed for them, – & then turn against even against their own offspring, if these don’t turn out to become the same well respected members of society, according to the honesty, honour & religion values , the parents believe in -
It would be understandable if the son turned out to be a gangster, rapist & muerderer, but it’s getting weird, if it’s only violation of social & religious values. – The shame some American parents once got, when their son turned out to be refusing to fight in Vietnam, – the shame some Yugoslavian parents in the last war ther got against their daughter who have been raped, – the shame Kareem father now got by denying his own son – it’s all the spirit of contemptible bigotry – (well I had to fight my way free in my youth from a very destrictive parents house, but I don’t think they would have denied me that much )
& Liora I think exaclty the same – I wish we all could get him free. – Maybe it would be wise for the Egyptian government to act in this case like once the former ‘DDR’ (the formerly comunist East Germany), which expelled the system critical & unconvenient song writer Wolf Biermann instead of putting him to prison. – It would be the best for both sides probably..
correction: ‘destrictive’ should be ‘restrictive’ – (it should be possible to correct an own comment here – is that possible, Jina?)
I think to edit one’s own comment it’s only possible for registered users.
Heimo – I completely agree with you. I just had a homosexual friend complain about his family kicking him out and disowning him for being gay. He was crying to me on the phone and I felt really helpless, and then I hear about Kareem’s father approving of such a horrid and misinformed decision upon his own son. It’s not fair. Family is family no matter what goes wrong or what your personal beliefs are.
Right now if we get him free, we should focus on getting him out of Egypt where many people are threatening violence against him.
