It’s been a long, long time since I’ve last posted, but I’ve been very busy. Between semester exams, homework, a week-long college tour all over the East coast, and various other scholastic travels through California, MEY gets pushed to the wayside. Anyway, two interesting pieces of new today caught my attention.

For all those who think that all Middle Easterners are insanely anti-American, here are stories of two Egyptians who are perhaps insanely pro-Western.

First is of an Egyptian who got a tourist visa to Turkey, offered his services to the Israeli embasys, was paid to spy on Arabs living in Turkey, and now is in an Egyptian prison where his lawyer doesn’t even bother defending his innocence!

NY Times

While famously pro-Western blogger Egyptian Sandmonkey reports on a teacher in a prominent Egyptian university who declared that America is his God in front of his students, denied them the ability to leave the classroom, and is now suffering in an Egyptian mental institution.
