Women Judges, Un-Islamic?
March 5th, 2007Egypt is de-evolving at a momentum faster than the rest of the world can advance. Actually I’ve considered hiring a team of scientists and mathematicians to generate a formula that illustrates Egypt’s one way ticket into the Stone Age, I’ll be holding interviews in my office/living room this Friday.
Here is the most recent example of Egypt’s swift regression. Yahia Ragheb Daqruri, Egyptian judge and president of the judges syndicate has released a report stating that women judges are un-Islamic and not in accordance with Sharia law. On what basis you ask? Because it’s inappropriate for a women to be, “alone in a room with two or more male judges” deliberating. Right of course! Besides that, even if men could by some means overcome their animalistic nature and not rape a women in their midst, how will the public react to a pregnant judge?
“The judge would inevitably ‘become pregnant at some point, and that [the judge's pregnancy] will certainly have an impact on the [judicial] prestige and on judges’ public image.”
Imagine the chaos and social unrest that would transpire following the pregnancy of a judge…..who’s a woman! It would be madness, what would God think?
This is my prediction and you can hold me to this, immediately following the conception of the baby darkness would fall over the earth, the ground would begin to shake and the earth would open up and swallow whole cities, it would be a catastrophe of epic magnitudes and possibly the onset of the end of days!
Unbelievable, I weep for the future of my country!

I wish I could laugh or cry…..and perhaps if I were to talk to one of these fellows, they would sound so sincere, as though their first priority could be the welfare of the woman, to protect her from the stress and inconvenience of being a judge. “Just let the men handle these complicated matter, you pretty little thing. Run along and go outside and play, or go into the kitchen and fix us some tea…”
Or another strategy is to blame the mothers for raising such sons. We are products of “your” education. But the women are products of our/male superstitions and virtuous blindness. Now we each feed off the other…
However we can’t deny that each new generation doesn’t have to be chained to the same stones as their parents. Surely we all, as loving parents, want our children to be better, to have more, to be more outstanding, to be able to endure more hardships, to make more noble sacrifices, than we could/did? Isn’t a “new hope” for the future the seductive attraction of the old for the young? So what are those “new hopes”? Now I want to weep inside my self. It seems depressingly sad.
Our daughters, here, continue to float in the middle class consumer dream that is Japanese society, to hurt not, to want not, to struggle not, to truly live not.
You have to wonder what the mothers of these deep thinkers would think of this ruling. If it were my son, he’d never stop hearing about what an idiot he is. Were their mothers totally incapable of making any decisions or taking any actions while pregnant? It’s a wonder that they were born…even crossing a street in Cairo is a life or death decision.
I wonder if this ‘judge’ realizes that he just insulted his own mother.
