March 24th, 2007Mr. Pecaut has been posting paranoid comments here for a little over two weeks now. I just received this e-mail from him regarding our Darfur campaign site, and I have to say, Mr. Pecaut has crossed the line. There is a sphere of sanity – he’s not in it.
The e-mail reads:
The Darfur campaign is the stupidest fucking bullshit set-up by US/Israeli imperialism that I have ever seen.
You no doubt were funded by a CIA source — it’s disgusting you fink loser.
Who is funding this site? Let’s see. NOBODY. Not every website receives “funding” – we live in an age where it’s extremely cheap and easy to set up and lead these types of websites. Just because you are not smart enough to figure it out doesn’t mean we have people doing or funding this for us. We do it ourselves – through our own efforts. Take your crap assumptions elsewhere. The site was made by Arabs and Muslims FOR Arabs and Muslims.

Making the fundraising target $ amount = the number of dead bodies you scare people with. Now that’s “brilliant”.
Reminds me of the first time I saw the “Save Darfur” mind control victims at Google’s very own Stanford. All it took was flashing images of a few emaciated and mutilated Africans while scolding the impressionable undergraduates for their decadent and shameful indifference, and they (literally) lined up to hand over the $20 bills.
But apart from all this empirical proof of the hollowness and imperialist subserviency of the Save Darfur campaign, what about my accusations? Do I deserve censure?

The purpose of the Darfur myth is to cover for US/UN overt military intervention into the Sudan and surrounding areas. All of the rape and extermination atrocities were secretly arranged and encouraged by this same US/Israeli group that puppets the UN.
I say “US/Israel” because I understand that Israeli thugs and their supporters are the lead bullies amongst bullies who direct US military imperialism — so Israel, while small numerically and territorially, has a larger percentage of control over the war decisions.
Since China oil capital invest heavily into the Sudan, the propoganda campaign also threatens to increase the percentage world dominance of US/Israeli oil capital, AND indirectly vilifies the Communist Chinese government for allegedly supporting the Darfur atrocities.
Such imperalist maneuvers are on a higher-level than “making money” — it’s violent redistribution of capital power — the high-level capitalist bookkeeping that is accomplished through war.
Yes, the Darfur myth perpetuates the “violent Arab Darkies” hoax too. And Israeli propogandists definitely help spread the whole campaign in their newspapers and television outfits. And justifying killing by claiming to protect against genocide is also an Israeli propoganda specialty.
To me, the Darfur campaign was _obviously_ a huge manipulation of some kind. The prominent atrocity images, the crude focus on rape, the slick MTV advertising style — big clues in my eyes.
You can reliably invert the claimed crisis in order to see the general purpose of the campaign, i.e., if the big US/Israeli/European newspapers claim that some violent thugs are murdering and raping people, you can be 99% sure that these same US/Israeli/European bully militarists are funding, arming, and entirely controlling the genocide perpetrators and the DELIBERATELY LYING that somebody else is doing it.
The big spy-agency administrated right-wing conspiracy is the ONLY conspiracy there is. And (no surprise), it is the only conspiracy not permitted serious public scrutiny. And as you can see by the title of this blog entry, there is a vicious “snap-back” reaction to this simple and accurate truth.
The core of the Darfur myth is that the violent conflict there is CAUSED by racial and religious conflict. This framework is the SAME perpetual-violence-between-races hoax that justified butchering Communist Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and currently in Iraq.
In each case, the propoganda claims a “civil war” between races or tribes or religions, justifying military intervention and vilifying anti-imperialist popular movements in the country along with any socialist “non-aligned” country’s support.
The overall, higher-level DELIBERATE LIE is that human beings are innately violent, and therefore these massive killings “just happen”.
I also remember watching an interview with the Sudanese ambassador to the United States, and he was asked about Darfur, and he responded that he couldn’t understand the focus on that region, given the much deadlier wars that for decades have killed millions in surrounding countries. That was another clue that something fishy was going on.
For some context on my nasty note to Esra’a — initially, I sent the email to the unidentified directors of darfur-awareness.org and several other related sites — an experimental propoganda offensive of my own.
I figured, if these guys are for real, then someone will respond in protest and I will be able to discuss the matter with them. While, if they ARE paid disinformation agents, then it’ll be equivalent to justifiably spitting in their faces.
I had no idea I would receive the opportunity to defend my accusation in public — that’s exactly what is needed and what, yes, excites me.
Looks like Chairman Mao knew how to conduct ideological warfare.
Is anybody else here courageous enough to publically disavow, or even question, the character assassination against me?

So it has nothing to do with human nature, nothing to do with historical conflicts within Sudan, but EVERYTHING to do with the nature of the U.S and Israeli leaders?
I don’t buy that U.S and Israeli leaders are ‘innately violent’ and therefore allow these ‘massive killings.’ Depending on the culture, sometimes these mass killings do in fact just happen.
I could buy interference, encouragement, and indirect intervention, but I will not buy that it’s all their fault and that they are secretly planning this behind their mysterious space ships. Let’s get real here.
As for human nature, how would you explain the past, when Israel did not exist and when America was hardly a strong country, both financially and politically? There were mass killings back then, too, within the same regions. Israel and the US wasn’t there to secretly plan it or support it. There are genocides happening in the world in places that the U.S and Israel probably don’t even know exist. What are you saying, that they would sponsor every genocide in the world? What for?
Is there framing done by these massive powers? Currently, maybe yes, and they may flame certain wars, I can buy that, but they are certainly not causing it. If we keep blaming the US and Israel for these things, we’d never realize the many faults that lie within our own societies. We’d be blaming the wrong “enemy” – our real enemies are in our backyards, you know. In most cases they are the very leaders. And even IF they are funded by the U.S, that doesn’t mean the U.S is the one that caused it or that is allowing it to continue. People end up wiping out each other, and it’s no one’s responsibility but ours to try and stop it.
Any leader of this sort would obviously deny their own crimes. Have you ever seen a leader come out and say “yes there is something horrible going on in my country and the government I am serving is largely responsible for it”? No. Are you denying the importance of this genocide, or denying that it’s happening at all?!

As to my accusation of CIA funding for http://www.darfur-awareness.org, which accusation was made in a private email to unknown/unspecified parties who (unbeknownst to me at the time) happened to by Esra’a, was I wrong?
IF the description that I made above about how the whole campaign about Darfur on this blog and in the newspapers is a colossal hoax to justify US/UN military intervention into Sudan and vilify China while attacking their oil reserves is accurate, THEN the deliberate lies that are presented as valuable, accurate information on the website WERE actually, orginally funded for creation by the CIA.
But is Esra’a a CIA agent for publically distributing lies that were funded for creation by the CIA?
That depends on whether Esra’a knows that the lies darfur-awareness.org is legitimating are actually lies, or whether she (?) is mistaken in thinking that the CIA-funded lies are actually accurate reports of some crisis in the Sudan which the CIA has not directly funded.
My guess — and I could be wrong — is that Esra’a is NOT a CIA agent, and that she has been duped into the prevailing bourgeois propoganda trap.
To that extent, if I am right about Esra’a, my original e-mail was inaccurate.

My wife once worked for relatives of Neil Miller, who with imaginine has captivated Christian Pecaut. I think it speaks to the power of ideas, that even largely empty ones can have such seductive gravities. It is indeed curious how the mind of man can be enthralled, as much and as fiercely by error as by truth, and that sometimes it is very difficult to know whether you are a slave to something wrong or to something sublime. The characteristics of such attraction are the same, whatever one claims is the truth. The really odd thing is the great divide, how vast the chasm can be between people who claim to be in service to the truth. Calling Christian crazy is your truth, his being crazy is his, the only thing one can say about the paradox is the ferocity of the diatribe about it, how sure everybody involved is, about what they see as the blindness of the other guy.
