March 31st, 2007Mohammed (Palestine)

Hello everybody .. this is my first time here .. I thought this was an aggregator at first but apparently it isn’t .. seems like a cool place :)
Anway Esra’a suggested I introduce myself in my first post.
Now some of you may or may not (most probably not lol) be familiar with my blog ..I’ve been blogging for almost a year now.

So a little about me .. my name is Mohammed eljundi .. I’m 23 years old .. Palestinian (never been to Palestine) .. sagittarius (born on the first day) .. I was born and raised in KSA (shargiyya) .. received half my education at an American school and the other half at a Saudi school (i.e. im a schizo) .. studied business-marketing at AUB & graduated last summer (craziest four years of my life) .. just started working a few days ago (FINALLY) .. umm what else. I don’t want to talk too much so if you want to know more you can visit my blog .. there you can see my profile, my facebook profile, and my flickr page (shameless promotion haha).

peace :)

Hahah. That is pretty good experience, actually.

  2. maliki/wahabi?

  3. Wellcome (not that I’m local, but I thought that you would be happy), where are you grandparents from (city/village)

  4. esra’a: well yeah that’s what i would call it .. an EXPERIENCE .. the “pretty good” part not so much :p

    111: zen sunni :D

andrey: hey .. my grandparents are from a little village hear haifa called elmansi :)

  5. 1) Sabri al-Jundi, from palestineremembered is your father?
    2) What is yor view on the right of return, do you think it can be setteled at all, without a decisive victory of Arabs over Israel?

  6. 1) im impressed .. sabri is a celebrity lol .. no hes not my father .. he is my fathers cousin actually .. hes also a fellow AUB alum hehe .. i posted some pics on that site which he provided :)

    2) as a palestinian who has never been to his home country i am a firm believer in the right of return .. i think we should at least be given a choice if we want to return or not and not have the decision made for us.
regarding the second half of your question it would seem that it is the only way to achieve it .. the israelis remain very adamant about not letting anyone return.

  7. Nice to see you here Mo.. I assume you hold Saudi or Jordanian citizenship and if you wish to “return” to Palestine, well I’m sure in some Peace Treaty in future that would be allowed, once Palestinian terrorism has stopped

As Sari Nusseibeh has said:”"I believe the Palestinians should recognize that the refugees should return to a Palestinian state, enabling them to build a new life …. We must exchange the old Palestinian dream for a new one, for the sake of the future,” Nusseibeh said.

Sari Nusseibeh is President of Al Quds University and initiator of The People’s Voice .254,430 Israelies and 161,000 Palestinians have signed up to date

  8. Andrey and Mo, dont you think that exactly this rhetoric of a victory OVER somebody (Israel) is part of this problem? Shouldn’t be the emphasis towards a victory OF something (reason)? Only in a reasonable dialogue in an environment of confidence the problems can be solved.

Without question, this is a difficult task but it’s indispensable to struggle for this goal. Thus the first question should be to ask what confidence-building measures can be done! A initiative like the one of Sari Nusseibeh is in my opinion the right step forward.

  9. Nice to see you here Mo.. I assume you hold Saudi or Jordanian citizenship and if you wish to “return” to Palestine, well I’m sure in some Peace Treaty in future that would be allowed, once Palestinian terrorism has stopped

    You left out Israeli terrorism.

  10. i know i am new here so let me just say this right now to avoid any confusion in the future .. i consider israel to be a terrorist state and i dont recognize its right to exist .. does that make me an extremist? .. well then i guess i am .. you are free to call me an extremist .. just like i am free to call anyone who defends israel a zionist.

but just to answer g and marten .. forget sari nuseibeh for a second (whoever that is) .. let’s talk arab leaders .. i think the arab leaders have put forth a proposal some years ago that would’ve settled the conflict once and for all .. this proposal represented the bare minimum of what arabs want .. and still israel refused it .. now the arabs have reiterated their proposal and still israel refuses .. so don’t blame “palestinian terrorism” or whatever .. blame israel for not wanting to reach any kind of compromise or give the palestinians any kind of viable state.

  11. Do you consider being a zionist as an insult? Is a zionist a israelian nationalist or something different? If there isn’t any difference, what it the difference in the purpose of an arab, syrian, palestinian and a israelian zionist?

The problem, from the view of Israel, of the offers in 2002 and 2007 from the arab countries are the following (not rated):
    1. The question of the right of return. I think to solve this problem at the moment is almost impossible. In my opinion there has be firstly a peaceful co-existence between Isreal and Palestine and then this question could be solved due to bilateral agreements or within an integration of a supranational organization. Have a look towards the Kosovo conflict and the referendum about the seperation from Serbia.

    2. The constitution of Hamas with the above mentioned demand and the negation of Israel’s right of existence. This cannot be ignored since they have governmental power. Altough there seems to be a change in the attitude towards a two wing Hamas.

Every fundamentalist (I don’t say extremist because the latter refers to me also to external action) has to find the small path between his ideals and the reality in order to be relevant. This needs a lot of time and from other governments also a benevolent attitude. Thus I think that the EU should start again with their payment to aid the autonomy government and so the Palestinian people. Finally Israel should end his hardliner policy and start direct talks.

  12. yeah i do consider the word zionist an insult .. the worst type of insult actually.

regarding the rest of your post .. no offense man but bla bla bla.
go find someone else to discuss this with please because im sorry im not interested .. the palestinian struggle to me is not an issue of theory and debate .. we are not discussing philosophy here .. we are talking about facts on the ground .. we are talking about people starving and dying and suffering and and and … to sit here and discuss it as if it were some intellectual topic is absurd in my opinion.

to me it is an open and shut case .. somebody stole our land .. we want it back “by any means necessary” .. simple really .. no room for discussion.

  13. “.. we are talking about people starving and dying and suffering and and and [...] we want it back “by any means necessary” .. simple really .. no room for discussion.”

By any means? Sit-ins? Throwing stones? Shooting a gun? Kill people? Where do you want to stop? Then we’ll still talk about people starving and dying and sufferung and and and…

Discussion means that you want to find a solution. Thats in contradiction to a debate where you only want to push your opinion through, and in a totally contradiction to senseless violance!

  14. First of all, I can’t, for the life of me understand how you can consider the word zionist an insult. To me, zionism has nothing to do with hatred or conflict; to me, it is purely about love. It is about love for a land and for a group of people. I am and will always be an ardent zionist.

“to me it is an open and shut case .. somebody stole our land .. we want it back “by any means necessary” .. simple really .. no room for discussion”

This is exactly the kind of statement that prevents any kind of progress from being made on this issue. If you really gave a damn about the people of this land (whether they be Israeli or Palestinian), you’d understand that this kind of statement is not only a step in the completely wrong direction, but it is a gross oversimplification and does no good to anyone. Furthermore, if you followed this childish “by any means necessary” logic to its conclusion, you’d realize that the situation would continue on its present course until either the Israelis or the Palestinians are forced to submit, and it will probably be through death and destruction. It doesn’t take a genius to understand that if that is the case, both the Israelis and the Palestinians will lose. However, while the Israelis will undoubtably have to endure a great deal of suffering, the Palestinians will pay a much greater price due to the extreme power imbalance. So give up this juvenile school of thought and grow up.

  15. esra’a why didn’t you tell me this place had so many zionists .. you should’ve mentioned something in the invite.

ezra .. yup as you said my way of thinking is one that believes that in the end one of the sides must triumph over the other .. and i believe that side will be the palestinians .. i don’t know if i will be alive when it happens but one day we will reclaim our land and throw every last zionist out.

and another thing .. fuck zionism .. fuck zionists .. and fuck israel.

  16. On the one hand it’s surely a unjust position of Israel to deny Palestinian refuges their right of return. On the other hand the solution cannot be violence. Not only Machiavelli pointed out that everything conquered by violence has to be defended by violence. In order to end this cruel spiral, each side has to make a step towards the other one.

  17. Hi Mo,

Actually it says in our mission statement that we do have many Israelis on here and we are required to get along with them for the sake of a healthy atmosphere for discussion.

I’m sorry but it’s not very fair to keep them out of our lives – a lot of them also agree with us, and even if not, they are still our good friends, so we shouldn’t be harsh and tell them things like “fuck Israel” or “fuck Zionists.” I know that they may seem very biased in their thinking but so are we, but if we ever need a solution then we better start interacting with these people… befriending them… and considering them humans so that they would consider us the same way.

Please think about it, and if you don’t think you can handle Israelis sharing this platform, then I’m sorry, but it is a crucial part of our network here.

The Israelis here are my friends and I respect them, even though I am pro-Palestinian with Palestinian roots. I cannot rule them out of my life simply because of their nationality or who they are.

  18. hmmm .. im afraid i cant be a part of community where zionists are welcomed .. sorry but i dont subscribe to your hippie way of thinking.

    Wow !!

  20. Then I am afraid your account will be deleted.

Sorry, but with this mentality of yours you will not contribute to any positive change in the Middle East.

    Goodbye.

  21. thats fine esraa its your site go ahead and delete my account .. im sorry if my resistance mentality is inappropriate for this place .. but i wont change my principles just so i can fit in.

but im just curious .. im assuming u had seen my blog before u invited me .. so i was wondering how could u possibly not have known about my fuck israel way of thinking?

    goodbye :)

  22. lol this was supposed to be a greetings post and im already saying my goodbyes haha

  23. I read your blog posts, but felt that actual connections with Israelis might change that. Obviously I was wrong. This is a place for people to tolerate each other, not a place to give others a reason to commit even more crimes against your people. You’re not brave with your “resistance” and rejectionist mentality – you’re causing more damage by doing that, and allowing others to effectively dehumanize you as the “enemy” and the “hater.”

This is a place for REAL, effective, inspiring and influential change. That is not a hippy mentality – that is someone who wants to see a stable future. I don’t understand why others excuse people working towards tolerance as a hippy mentality – but that goes to say that you don’t know much about this network and what we achieved so far, which is a lot. We accomplish these things with Arabs (Palestinians, Egyptians, etc), Israelis, Iranians, we do it together by leaving our differences aside. And that’s what can create the right atmosphere for our lifestyles in the future.

And if you read the posts by many Arabs and Iranians here, you will see that they are totally pro-Palestine, in every way. But that doesn’t mean we can’t respect Israeli civilians who aren’t responsible for any war crimes, and average Israelis whom we consider our friend. You hate them because their only crime is being of a certain nationalisty? Do you approve it if they only hate you for being Palestinian?

You need to learn how to seperate between a government and its people. Many Israelis are pro-Palestine. And even the ones who are not, they are our friends whom we should respect, because either way we need to find a manner in which we can all live together.

  24. wow .. are you actually comparing the israelis to the palestinians .. the oppressors with the oppressed .. no comment.

lol you would think the name of my blog would’ve been your first clue .. QASSAMI :D

well esra’a good luck with your efforts to bring about “real effective inspiring and influential change”.

    im outta here :o

  25. Hi this is my first time here, my name is alain and i am totally neutral when it comes to the arab israeli war, also i equally hate iran and israel and i just want to say to all the zionist that they shouldn’t worry about the future of israel beacuse i am sure that once it is completely destroyed by iran the united states will avenge poor little israel by destroying iran
and i can’t wait for that to happen HA HA au revoir …
