The US was already prepared for the war and everytttthing was ready but oh well, they had to tell the UN, FYI: we r gonna invade Iraq next week, just so you know! Why can certain countries, like the U.S, get away with certain human rights abuses and others can't? Secondly, they aren't powerful enough to enforce any sort of laws, so if no country takes them seriously what's the point? If my country, God forbid, ever want to war, and the UN claimed to "rush for our help," I'd never get my hopes up or feel secure. Well, the concept sure isn’t a joke, but the structure is. If it was a joke we could have dismissed it and move on. However this organization being used to actually block and prevent any meaningful action to protect human rights with the disguise of democratic process. For example see how, for long time now, the French and the Chinese are blocking any effective action to stop the killing in Darfur, because the life of the people in Darfur worth less than their oil drilling rights.
