Someone asked earlier if we grew beards in the band (sorry i didn't reply, it slipped my mind) we actually don't grow beards except for our vocalist, however the picture we kept on myspace showed all of us (except me) with beards, but now only one of has keeps it. But in all honesty I do get careless with shaving so you might see me with a beard most of the time, but I don't really like it. This mutawa3 species is a fault in the own people. I respect my religion very much but I don't see where these extremists are finding all this stupid stuff as if religion was a scary prison where we cannot use our own brain. And even if this is a large scale phenomenon that spread all over muslim countries, it takes different forms, and in Tunisia it was quite spectacular, because we were living in an almost secular society and now I don't recognize my own people, and I'm getting attacked everytime I say something about the excessive and very fast change that happened as if I was insulting islam just because I'm saying that extremism is harmful. He was not just an uncle but also a very good friend, and one day he just stopped talking to all of us and became a "mutawwa3." I had a friend, a very moderate and open minded young guy. he used to listen to music just like me and we were quite close so he shared with me every song that he loved and we used to study together and talk about many things almost everyday. Then we lost contact for a few months, and when I saw him again, i detected a slight change in his behavior, but everyone else was telling me that i'm beeing paranoid about it. but later he decided to have a bear, stopped listening to music .. and stopped talking to me at all. I lost my friend as he chose to follow the kind of people you're describing in their way of interpreting religion. this was quite painful this post reminds me of something important that happened to me about 2 years ago.
