I will be the first to say that I don’t see the point in this post, and that if you don’t contextualize it soon, you are opening up a can of worms (and I would not support this post).
huh, i didn’t know that islam ever rejected jesus.
CBN? REALLY?
Well I think this could spark an interesting discussion. For one, there are tons of Christian missionaries in the Middle East and Africa whose soul purpose is to convert… even when I went to Bosnia, missionaries were everywhere, something that many Muslims actually found offensive because such missionaries were blaming Bosnia’s conflicts on the lack of “Jesus.” So I find it ironic that Muslims are being blamed for being an “expansionalist” religion.
Secondly, we could easily say that a lot of Christians are coming to Islam. I know tons of American Muslims who were raised as strict Christians… in fact I think the rates of Muslim converts are much higher, it’s well known for being one of the fastest growing religion in the world (surprisingly in the West too.)
We could also see the source of this video, the introduction itself proved that it can’t be reliable if it had such a tunnel vision of Islam… honestly as a Muslim who lived in a Muslim country all her life I have never met the Jihadists that people love to talk about so much, dedicating their lives to blow up others? This is an alien idea for me. I don’t know of many Muslims who are actively trying to take over the world. I only was exposed to these things through media, never through my actual culture or reality.
One of the few things that I would entirely agree with from that video is that Muslims are accepting of Jesus. This is true; and I don’t mean in the sense that they adopt the Christian religion. I mean we have high respect for Jesus Christ as the Koran speaks highly of him as a valuable Prophet. This is why that many Christians live in harmony amongst . I went to a Catholic school in Bahrain, and next to this was a British school full of Christians, and in front of us was an Indian school full of Christians, Catholics, Hindus, and others. No one attacked anyone, in fact Christians have a lot of rights despite us being officially under “Islamic” rule. Nuns walk around with huge crosses – trying to convert others. And people think this is so rare to find in the Muslim world.. my only response would be, go to Bosnia, go to Bahrain, go to Oman, the UAE, etc. And then maybe people will think twice when they claim that Muslims are somehow trying to take over the world… when our own worlds are being bombarded with people trying to actively convert us.
It’s funny how they have to try so hard to convert people when others convert to Islam without even becoming in contact with a Muslim. From where I come from, Christians bribe the poor to convert. What a pittyfull religion.
And I hope no one finds my post insulting in any way as it’s meant to point out some irony and not offend anyone… I am just a bit critical about Islam being blamed for wanting to expand so much yet I see Christians doing that more desperately it seems, especially in Muslim countries.
We respect Christians as we are supposed to, the Koran gives us tons of reasons to. This is why, contrary to what mainstream media outlets would say, many Muslim countries actually tolerate Christians… think Morocco, Bahrain, UAE, Oman, etc.
This video is just evangelical propaganda.
What a pittyfull religion.
Judging a group by their absolute worst people is a pretty shitty way to go through life.

here i haven’t gotten it much from christians other than a jehova’s witness here or there, but i think that goes with being the majority culture. i have met quite a few muslims tha are obnoxious about it. in short, everyone sucks.
Well just like each religion has its extremists, it has its obsessive lunatics. My point is: you don’t hear much about Christians converting others in Muslim countries, but all the time what you hear is how Muslims are trying to take over the world. So this is one of the biggest misrepresentations which actually has more consequences than what many think.
400 years of Christian domination, the butchering of my family, and the butchering of my people have really nothing to do with it.
It’s a pittyfull religion because, evangelism is a part of it. But for the method of converting… well I have worse thing to say about that.
People that happened to be muslims have killed people I’m related to and made it impossible for them to live in countries they;ve called their home for generations(and in some cases, centuries.) I don’t hate Islam and all muslims because of it.
But I guess that’s totally different…
Did I just say that was the reason why I consider Christianity as pittyfull?
Evangelism=|=all of Christianity.
Ohh, I have more to say about Islam also, but not on this post.
Really? You must think the Catholics or the Orthodox don’t do this Evangelism crap. Goto South Asia, South-East Asia or Africa, look at the Christians there, you won’t tell the different between a Catholic and a Jehovah Witness or an Adventist. Or just come and meet my gf’s mom.
I thought I was pretty clear at the start but seriously I don’t know how I can simplify any further the idea that these missionaries and weirdos don’t equal the faith itself. The fact that they exist in other sects doesn’t take anything away from the fact that calling a whole religion pittifull or pitiful is hella lame.
Peace.
I called the religion pittyfull for what it does.
I wasn’t talking about missionaries or “weirdos”.
Nice refutal, but refute this.
Missioning is in deed a mandate of Christianity. I wouldn’t distinguish to much between catholics and protestants. In this case they are pretty equal. They did (and still do) it upon the idea of salvation. Salvation for themselves but mainly for the missionized.
Unfortunately they understood (understand?) this mission falsely. With force and brutal violence they did (do?) crime in the name of Jesus Christ. Too often this was (is!) more a question of real political (economical) influence than of salvation.
But I think it is important (for theist people) to distinguish between the original idea and those people who perveted it. For me, as an atheist person, missionary (of Christianity, Islam etc.) is always a question of real existent influence.
Yes there is a bible passage about spreading the faith, some aspects of christianity focus on that, some focus on hating fags, and many adherents practise a form of Christianity that is basically just about following the golden rule (do unto other as you would have them do unto. you.)
Likewise, you could take out of context passages in the koran about warfare and spreading the faith and come to just as shitty conclusions that that is all that it’s about.
I’m going to go out on a limb and pretty much anyone that would say anything about the religion as a whole, though, as being inherently this or that, is just being a tool.
What ever you been smoking it is working.
That stuff in bold is what almost every religion I know on this planet says. Why divide into Christians, Muslims bla bla when all these religions say this? Why have a freaking book that has thousands of words when that’s the only thing that matters?
BTW, this is a top about Christianity, not Islam. Why must you bring in irrelevant crap to the argument. I asked you to refute what is written in the Bible. You failed to do that.
Feel free to create a post about Islam, go ahead, you have the right here to criticize it. Do it, don’t bring in irrelevant crap to this discussion.
Christianity is Christianity because of what it says. I didn’t base it on what people say or how “Christians” behave. Please explain to me how people who are doing what Jesus himself said “weirdos”.
Jina, you’re full of shit!
How dare you offend a religion based on what people do? People didn’t kill your ancestors because the bible said so, they did it for their own interests!
e refutal, but refute this.
So? How do you expect people to know about the religion if people don’t talk about it, think before you talk!
It’s a pitiful religion because evangelism is part of it? Are you kidding me? You’re judging an entire religion based on one sect?
HYPOCRITE, you said you hated Christianity because of evangelists, then you say because of the religion itself, you’re moving from one opinion to another just to prove your point!
And, NO, I can’t open a topic about Islam, because, 1) I LIVE IN AN ISLAMIC COUNTRY!! 2) because I have a lot of muslim friends who
I respect, so why would I judge people by their religion, and why should I judge a religion based on a group of follower who do wrong and “haram” things based on their own explanation of their religion!
You are such a pitiful, hating, disrespectful, illogical, under-educated, narrow-minded person.
GROW UP, open your eyes and look around!
