How can she be a source of shame to her country, while she is not in that country? She lived in USA as I understand, and it is not a shame living like that in the USA. She is Egyptian because she cannot change that fact overnight, or she cannot suddenly turn Amecian, but she adopts the culture of living a free life, a life not in the limits of ethical or traditional values. It is not practical that some one who migrates to the other side of the oceans behave the ways people live on this side ofthe oceans. She is what she is, and she does not hide her Egyptian origin.
More or less we do have girls of that culture among ourselves, but they are not right in the face of society, they are in their own circles. I prefer this being choked to the way a 14 year girl is stoned to death by her father for misconduct.

Having a family that’s disfunctional to whatever extent is really no excuse for behaviors such as that. Plenty of families have parents that beat on each other, divorced parents or grow up in a strict muslim life and they’re kids don’t turn out like that. And yea plenty of youths will do stupid things but most will never go that far. Yes you should defend your sister as anyone would for their own siblings but to be honest she chose to do all that. To go against all islamic teachings and non-islamic morals to do all this and there are always consequences for that whether they come from being ridiculed by others or being called various things. And although some comments can be justified, that don’t mean others can abuse her like this and it doesn’t mean she still acts this way. From what I know now, she tries to make her parents happy, by going to school and trying to return to being a good muslim. Yes she will have a past and consequences from that here or in the afterlife, but just like everyone else she can change for the better and having support for her to change to become a better person is gonna be a lot helpful than having people post negative comments about her. And we can all hope that others who think of choosing this sort of life can take a lesson from her life and not do it. Stick to your morals and principles and no matter how hard life is, keep your faith and trust in Allah and Allah will take care of you.
