bicycle man

This is in Manama.
I have this technique. Since I am pretty shy and haven’t gotten to the stage of going up to a person’s face and snapping a shot, I stick my camera to my hip, and snap away. Usually people don’t notice, but the thing with a hipshot, is that you never know how the picture would turn out. I mean, the person’s head could be cut off, or the picture might be underexposed.
Whenever a hipshot turns out nice-looking, I get really excited. This picture is one of the nice looking ones.
I love the way the man was just dead staring at me. It’s like he could have possibly run me over, and by that killed me.
Ironically though, I would not have minded.

Nice Photos!!! I like your vision!
can i ask u what type of cam do u use?? u c my cam was stolen, and i wanna check for good ones!!:P
Thanks a lot!
For this foto, I used my digital camera, a Canon 350D. I also use a film camera which is Canon T70, but it’s pretty old. If you can afford it and you really like photography, then I definetly recommend a canon 350d. it is light weight and pretty good quality.
Disturbing that you wouldn’t have minded being run over and killed.
Believe me, there is a lot to live for. You have talent and should be looking to become a photographer as being a woman, it actually opens many aspects to you in this part of the world.
By the way, why don’t you visit my new photo site capture360.net and join us?
Hm. Now I might have sounded pretty emo there. I am not.
I just really wouldn’t have minded if he ran me over.
It would have been pretty cool actually.
Imagine me taking a foto while he ran me over and the bicycle is sort of runnig over me. That would’ve been wow.
I tried joining in your website, but you don’t accept people under sixteen to join. I am fifteen. Should i break the rule and act sixteen? haha.
And thank you, for saying I’ve got ‘talent’. I pretty much disagree. All i do is click a button and WALA! =)
Well, you have enough of an eye to sort the good shots from the bad: more than can be said of many editors 8^)
I played with photography back when a Cannon AE-1 was the bomb. Lots of fun, isn’t it?
You teens are all crazy. It would not have been cool but very painful..would have made for a better title though…Bicycle Man….just before he ran over me!
I just put sixteen as an arbitrary guide as I didn’t want any angry parents tracking me down. I have lowered it to fifteen so you don’t have to lie and since you have shown fifteen year olds can take nice pics.
Will put some kind of parental approval thing in place for those under fifteen rather than just reject it out of hand as before. Thanks for opening my eyes.
Well you certainly do have the talent and can only develop further.
Have you heard of the Awali Photographic Society? It meets once a month (closed for summer though lol) and is a good place to interact with other shooters in Bahrain. A couple of members on the site are also there. There is also the Bahrain Association for Photography (or something along those lines) this is also a triving group of shooters. Proceedings are in Arabic which leaves me out but I know the guys behind it (Ned & MShaikh on Capture360.net) from the APS. I hear the Photo Group at the Arts Society is a waste of space though. One member did have an exhibition recently with some fine pics.
So sign up on C360 and we will let you know the next time the APS is reconvening…it could be September though!
