A Nice Picture, But Will it Ever Become a Reality?!
June 10th, 2007I received an invitation to join a Facebook group called Shalom Salam Social Movement, which is a group of people who believe that peace between Israelis and Arabs is really possible.
I truly loved the profile picture of the group, however, I can’t help but wonder, will we live long enough to see that day when such a nice picture becomes a common reality?.

Just 2 months ago, I attended an American-Jordanian youth conference on America’s foreign policy in the Middle East, Prince Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan delivered the opening speech, in it he said ” The Arabs and the Abars ( Hebrews in Arabic) (العرب Ùˆ العبر) even though they have alot of similarities , even in the way we refer to them, they just don’t seem to find a common ground to understand and tolerate each other …”
I just hope that this day will come , when we focus more on what unites us as human beings rather than on what divides us!.
I leave you with another picture I liked from that group, yet, I would love to hear what you think of it, especially , our friends from Israel and Palestine!

Those are cool images, pretty emotive, though I think right now, there connovative of an ideal and not a possibility for Israel / Palestine right now.
What does it say in the second picture? anyway thats cool!
Every one of us has the power to create peace within ourselves. This will filter through to our families, our communities and ultimately throughout our countries and the world. A good way to start other than focusing our thoughts on peace, is to practise random acts of kindness. See how you feel when you try to understand another person before being understood.
We all have different beliefs and behaviours, but we all respond to love and kindness. Let’s strive for peace and kindness, as opposed to fighting against violence. Where there is love and understanding, there will be peace and joy. Please go to http://www.ubuntupeaceproject.com
found it : Coexist!
Yeah, I think most efforts are going about it all wrong. And there needs to be more movement from underneath society. Which is why Mideast Youth is pretty awesome!
It is indeed Eliesheva;)
inshallah!
When thinking about the Israel-Palestine conflict, people often seem to forget that it really hasn’t been going on for all THAT long in a historical sense. Israel was after all created less than 60 years ago.
I think that now is as good a time as ever (many will say to this that Abbas and Olmert are both weak and lack support, but there are always problems) for peace and I certainly hope for it. It is not an impossibility – Rabin almost achieved it.
From your mouth to God’s ear, as my grandmother used to say.
Mohammad Azraq

The first picture of the two kids, so beautiful. I think kids have no problem taking care of their differences and when we leave them all by themselves we see how they group and play and fight and make up. They even don’t need an intervening factor.
Pictures represent the mind-set of the viewer, the image-catcher. WHile there are people among us who zoom on beauty we can always be hopeful
I believe it is a reality that can happen.
First picture is what kids being kids is about isnt it – therefore is possible – very cool picture.
And to Mayan80 hasn’t it already begun with the group on Facebook – good on those who are involved in the group.
Looking from afar Im a believer that it is possible
If you leave the issues to the younger generation, they can solve it… the problem is that the dieing bigots from both sides are the ones who are causing most of the problems… I sometimes think that we might have peace on Earth if our grandparent’s and parent’s generation just disappeared from the face of this world overnight.
Hard to see how that is going to become a reality, to be brutally honest.
Perhaps there is hope that youth will overcome the oppression of religion and find the true nature of humanity
This day will come ! Im not saying this as a hope or a dream, but as a statement. The only problem with this day coming is that the one who will unite these nations is the Antichrist.
A man who comes on a white horse, conquering with diplomacy, uniting for the frist time, the Jews and the Gentiles. The Bible warns us against this day. The Antichrist will make a peace treaty with Israel which they will accept, but he will break it half way through and cause the abomination of desolation, forcing everyone to worship him as god, and those who refuse are killed.
Another interesting thing that the Bilbe points out in 1Thessalonians 5:3
“when they Peace and Safety, destruction will come on them suddenly” and if you look back just one verse you will see they Paul is talking the End Times
Jack, so only an Antichrist can create peace between the followers of the two religions? There is no need for an Antichrist, people like life more than death, and they love peace more than war, they can be played with only for a limited period of time, then they cannot be played with any more, at least for a long long period. Does it cost money to have hope?
Beautiful pictures. I hope this idea can become reality.
Ah, I think the peace treaty will be with Iran (babylon) about the safety of Israel and last for 3 and a half years, we will see though huh,
