The Benz is a diplomatic car. You can tell by the plates (as blurred as they are). This demonstration was just ridiculous. My husband is sitting here saying that it takes Iran back more than 20 years when you could be harmed in the name of "righteousness" and when Iran was without civil law.

Jina, The Brits were celebrating the Queen's birthday. Every embassy in Iran has a celebration for its national day (Ironically, the Brits don't even serve alcohol at theirs!). Some Iranians receive invitations to the national days and go to practice their English (German, French... whatever), talk to foreigners, make business connections... etc...

Mohammad M., There may not be good feeling in IRanian society for British policy in Iran, but that does not mean that the Brits should have to put up with regular, organized demonstrations of hooligans for hire. Kamangir already points out how the same people show up time and time again to get their handout and throw a smoke bomb.

When women and men get together to demonstrate for women's rights, those demonstrations are broken up within minutes. Iran does not have a practice of allowing open, public, organized dissent. If it had, then maybe they would find that real Iranians wanted to protest peacefully outside the British embassy and that is something that everyone could live with. But when the regime controls who can demonstrate and who cannot and what can be protested and what cannot, then no demonstration that is allowed to occur can ever be seen as legitimate.

Hank,

There's nothing more annoying than someone trying to shove their beliefs down other people's throats.

For us Muslims, Christ is not our savior. Get over it!
