Happy Birthday, Kareem!
Today is Kareem Amer’s 23rd birthday, and also the 223rd day which he spends in prison. Longtime readers of this site already know all about our campaign to free Kareem, but if not, please visit our website for extensive information on Kareem, his blog posts, his story, his case, ways you can help and much more.
We also made a video for him today:

I do believe that there is no country that is 100% democratic!
Oops, sorry, can’t i delete the comment? Anyway, as I was saying, there is no 100% democratic country, I’m not defending Egypt, on the contrary, I say that something must be done to free Kareem, and something must be done about what they’re doing to human-rights there!
And I don’t want to live in a 100% democratic country. Having said that, having limited freedom and limited democracy is better than having none at all.
I do hope Egypt develops the free speech that we have in the United States. We allow people to say whatever they want about religion, it’s just that we don’t give them alot of media attention, if they say anything bad about certain religions. For example, there is David Duke who is always criticizing Jews. He does not get that much attention and when he does, the person who interviews him makes sure to critize him regardless of what he says.
WHen the Egyptian government put him on trial, they gave Kareem Amer more postive attention than he deserves. There are other Egyptians who are are fighting for human rights in Egypt, that have been jailed but don’t get the same kind of attention. I suspect that the reason why he has gotten a lot of Western attention is that he bashes Islam. I have no problem with constructive criticism of Islam, but he just bashes Islam. He is in the same category as Wafa Sultan, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and yes, even David Duke. If he criticized Chrisitanity, Judaism, and U.S. foreign policy the way he criticized Islam he would not be getting the Western attention he is getting now.
Happy Birthday to Kareem – I wonder whether he has still contact to the outside – what will they do to him in all this long, long years – will they try to break him? – of course. – Will he be changed, when he’s getting released? – of course – I really deeply hope for Kareem to not let them break him & stay in these hard times with a strong heart, will & mind
(@ Jina – well 100% democracy , means only to keep somehow the different political streams & powers of a country ‘very somehow’ in balance to make the ruling party also accept the ‘others’ & so proportional to the voting let the oppositional parties participate, instead of just eliminating them like in any dictator ruled system – but there’s no democracy at all if undemocratic people like Hitlers NSDAP or Hamas take over by elections.. – democracy is only the best solution in relation to dictatorships, but if fools against assholes win the selection there must be something deeply wrong in that country – a wise king would probably even be better.. (Vote for me! – just joking..)
hmm, but probably you meant the same with your:

when I read in this Kareem support site of his first letter frome ther this sentence above it gave tears in my eyes – the next two letters there were only in Arabic – maybe someone there who might translate them? – - but they’ve been all written in last November – so they apparently cut off any communication possibility to communicate to the outside anymore to him – cheap thugs who imprisoned a free bird down to their muddy dungeons of restricted minds – I hope they never achieve such a goal to make him silent..
