Egyptian Torture Kit
For the last year and some change numerous videos have been unearthed by the network of Egyptian bloggers featuring Egyptian police officers engaging in various sorts of torture on citizens ranging from slaps on the back of the neck to sodomy. The Egyptian government has dismissed the videos as isolated incidents despite over 10 different videos depicting over 15 different police officers. A simple You Tube search for “Egyptian Police Brutality” will provide all the info you need.
Most of these cases have been buried in bureaucracy but there arent many places to hide now that a torture kit has been found at a police station in Alexandria. Discovery of the kit which includes a whip, clubs and a barbed wire-studded stick may now prompt a nation wide probe into all Egyptian police stations although I highly doubt it.
There’s really only one way to combat such torture and thats to pass a law sentencing all police officers caught committing torture to be reprimanded by the same torturous means. I don’t really believe in eye for an eye but I imagine that a police officer might think twice about sodomizing a guy with a stick knowing that the same thing might be done to him or he might just stop video tapping it. Either way I plan to put this law on the books my first day in office! Let the campaign begin!
Vote D.B. Shobrawy for President of Egypt!

I’m afraid I’m not eligible to vote for in Egyptian elections, otherwise you’d have my full support ;^)
Certainly it should be a crime to torture prisoners, but not with a penalty of torture: I don’t think the way to end torture is by torturing torturers. Is it possible under the law for police who torture to face civil suits? That is, to be sued by their victims?
