This just in, from the Islamic Republic

July 26th, 2007Meenoo (Iran)

I was just chatting online with my friend from Iran when he sent me this:
If we’re wearing a foriegn brandname, they take us in. Wasn’t it Mr Ahmadi-nejaad who told us “the problem of our country isn’t the 10 cm higher or shorter length of the coat/cloak/mantau our women wear”? Girls dont even leave their house for fear of being taken in by the police–their coat might just be a few centimeters short, or a little too tight–god forbid. We have to lock ourselves in our own homes because we don’t even have the choice to choose our attire–they’ve taken it away from us.
Why doesn’t anybody do something?! Why is everybody passively listening?

For us, when we see the police, instead of feeling secure, we feel afraid. Why?

  1. there was some mistake there.the rule was not about wearing a foreign brand name it was about wearing a deviant brand name as they said.

  2. how are you wearing in iran? (women)

  3. New generation young ladies would love to put on heavy makes-ups and be more fancy than past generation they put short and thin clothes like this

they should have the right to choose and to do whatever they want. just it’s ridiculous to stop people and ask them “what’s that you wearing? I can see your body!”

These people even don’t respect to their Islamic law! as i heard of, a Muslim man shouldn’t look at a stranger woman, right? so why do these cops (men) look at ladies? what Islamic law, permit men cop is free to look at women?

  4. Spesial Thanks to Iranian government to capture our sisters, mothers and wives. Really do we need them walking in these damn streets when they even can not enjoy the fresh air? When they HAVE TO be depressed under this high pressure to wear a black tchador, when they have to HIDE themeselves against the other people? When there is a huge sense of fear from government and police ???? really do we need them alive?
