Podcast – Interview with GVO Editor: Is technology helping us, or endangering us?

August 22nd, 2007Esra'a (Bahrain)

I conducted this podcast with Silly Bahraini Girl, who is way more geeky than she looks and sounds. She (Amira) currently works as the editor of the Middle East and North Africa region on Global Voices Online, doing daily round-ups of the regional blogosphere. In the past, she served as a news editor for the widely read Gulf Daily News in Bahrain.

If you’re interested in blogging, human rights, freedom of speech, and unnecessary sound effects then you might enjoy this.

Shhh. I’m traveling tomorrow night. They always pull me aside to the immigration line and insist on calling me a Ma’am. I like how the questioning officers all wear camouflaged suits. Why? They’re not behind plants or anything. Do they think we don’t see them?

  8. So far at Mideast Youth we have featured:

    An Omani student
    An Afghan activist
    A Bahraini university student
    A Saudi DJ
    A Lebanese Christian
    Two Moroccan students
A bunch of stupid students (in the podcast entitle “when ignorance becomes funny”)

    See it all here.

I wish people would help out with these! They’re really fun to create.
