The definition of oxymoron. Isn’t funny how her tattoo kind of looks like the Arabic Hezbollah. Ha!
Well, think of it like this: most people in Lebanon — supporters of Hezb Allah included — are not really as religious as they are sectarian. Religion is very political. So, even though she may support a religious party, she may not be a devout person per se, in fact, she might be quite secular. This is very common, especially among younger people. For every hijabi you have a girl with a blonde “tramp stamp” or belly ring.
Also, notice how she is wearing an orange belt with that orange lump hanging from the side, perhaps a shirt or a flag or a scarf. Orange is the color of the Free Patriotic Movement, the largest Christian (mostly Maronite) oppostition party, which is allied with Hezb Allah (and led by Michel Aoun). She could be bi-partisan, or even Christian and not even Muslim. Hezb Allah’s major ally nowadays is a Christian party. This, here, is Beirut!
Haha, only in Lebanon!
LoL! Fariborz you know she’s right! Oh brother…Lets not go there. My little cousin is 13 and she is a sasquatch.
I think Nouri nailed it: she’s obviously trying to make a statement by wearing the colors of all the particular factions.
Yet it’s a little bit like wearing a Nazi swastika and a Communist hammer and sickle at the same time in the middle of a Save-The-Whales rally.
The message imparted would be something like this: the Nazis and Communists CAN work together as allies, since they’re both interested in saving whales.
Bless her confused, little whale of a heart!
“Yet it’s a little bit like wearing a Nazi swastika and a Communist hammer and sickle at the same time in the middle of a Save-The-Whales rally.”
Hahaha that is a horrible example man, sorry. I get your point of hypocrisy but I literally spit my coffee while reading this.
Thanks for everybody’s opinion!
It’s a mixture of everything! and seriously, how can somebody mix all naturaly opposite things? it doesn’t make sense.
Oxymoron is a good one, thanks Omid.
Finnpundit, you crack me up!
Actually this picture is over 8 months old. The girl is wearing the colors of the opposition: Orange for FPM, Green for Marada and Yellow (Hizbullah flag). It was taken during the opposition demonstrations in Beirut. I don’t find it surprising or hypocritical. The girl doesn’t necessarily have to be Christian. As surprising as this may seem, she could be Shiite. I would however understand how non-Lebanese may find all this confusing haha. One needs to know Lebanon (and the Lebanese) to understand this picture.
Agree with Cedar pride!! Why did you directly assume that she’s Christian?
That’s hot!
I never assumed she was Christian, I just said she could have been; I said it was likely she could be Muslim even before that.
Very interesting picture.
It could also be some left-political minded girl somewhere in Europe.
Nope. Sorry. Definitely in Lebanon. Probably on December 10, 2006, the biggest demonstration ever witnessed in Lebanon, even bigger than March 14,2005. Here is a link for the pic of the girl from the front.
She is definitely an FPMer, because of the sign she does with her hands

CedarPride:
Thanks for the link and explanation.
by the way to clarify, Danial wrote some non-sense here so Omid and Nouri Lumendifi responded to him. I delete Danial’s comment.
