Iran has hanged 21 men in the latest of a series of executions
well, last night I came to this article in bbc and I found interesting things on it so let me copy it here then I will have questions.
Iran has hanged 21 men in the latest of a series of executions that have been criticised by the EU and human rights groups, state media have reported.
Authorities executed 17 convicted drug smugglers in the north-eastern province Razavi Khorasan and four criminals in the southern city of Shiraz.
The hanging of the four men in Shiraz was reportedly watched by large crowds.
The number of executions in Iran has risen since July, when police launched a crackdown on “immoral behaviour”.
Murder, rape, adultery, armed robbery, apostasy and drug smuggling are all punishable by death under the Islamic state’s particular version of Sharia law.
A justice department official said that at least one criminal had been executed each week in Fars province, of which Shiraz is the capital, since the Iranian New Year on 21 March.
“This shows the efforts of the judiciary system in bringing about permanent social security and a serious confrontation with those people who are corrupt,” Abdolnabi Najibi told the Fars news agency.
Amnesty International has protested against the rising number of executions in Iran this year, which had reached 124 before Wednesday’s hangings.
The European Union has criticised Tehran’s human rights record and expressed concern about the use of the death penalty.
Here is my part, most of people that I know approve that some of people that executed by IRI’s regime weren’t thugs, probably they were political prisoners or just they had different belief systems which the latter is highly expected to be true.
My question is, why do they execute them in front of people? if we accept they convicted a crime (any kind that against Islam rules) why should they get punished in front of people in street? Iran is no exception because Saudi Arabia does the same. They punish people in public. Why is it so? Do they want to spread fear to public people? Is this part of Islam or is it just current politics and nothing to do with Islam?!

Islamic authorities execute a number of thugs, murderers, hooligans… who have not been previously recruited in their repressive organs.
Furthermore, a number of executions belong to those who do not bow to the hateful Sharia and the way of Islamic life.
The third category of the victims are the political activists who are routinly killed with the two other categories.
The IRI, under Khatami, was used to eliminate people more discretely, but the new military-security-Government prefers to create public fear.
This or that way of execution does not change the barbaric nature of the IRI.
Some on this site camouflage or have doubt on the unabated atrocities, carnage, executions, and mayhem caused by the IRI.
As if being killed by the IRI’s murderers would not make any problem for the Inner and foreign mercenaries (different Islamic parasites in Iran and hizballah, hamas, fanatic Muslims abroad), some apologists of the IRI on this site forget even their alleged neutrality.
What apologists of the IRI on this website? I hope you don’t mean the people who disagree with your ignorant assumptions.
Those who propagte the idea that the IRI is “democratic, legitimate…” are both layers and IRI’s apolofists.
And none of such people are on this website. So stop lying.
Esra’a
I never used the rude words that you constantly use in this side.
I asked you to stop coming up with fantasies about this website. I know you love to attack it; try to be more subtle in your lies.
OK all lets calm down. Seriously. Lets just try and focus on coming up with good content.

I delete your comments till the time that learn how to talk politely.
That’s right Jahanshah, thanks
still my questions are left alone,
why do they execute them in front of people? if we accept they convicted a crime (any kind that against Islam rules) why should they get punished in front of people in street? why do they execute them in front of people?
Good question. Public executions were gradually phased out in the west. There were a lot of reasons for that, but two might be of interest: first, the state found out that the executed ones would take on a martyr status in the eyes of the public, which was deemed antithetical to the notion of punisment.
A second reason was more prurient: it was discovered that a lot of people became sexually excited when witnessing an execution. That grossed a lot of people, especially in Victorian Britain.
” Is this part of Islam or is it just current politics and nothing to do with Islam?!”
What other Muslim countries practice public execution?
All you constantly do is make hyperbolic statements and start deleting posts that do not cater to your twisted worldview.
Stop with the illusion that you’re for freedom of speech when you have clearly demonstrated your inability to accept those different from you.
And again, go enlist in Iraq and kill all the Muslims you want, hotshot.
Also Fariborz, why do you continue to post on this site if you think it’s full of IRI sympathizers?
Way to live off of the fat of the land while biting the hands that feeds you. If you had any integrity you would have closed your account and left the site by now.
Finnpundit,
Thank you for staying on topic and providing material for discussion.
Iran and other Muslim countries use capital punishment as a deterrent. But, I think there have statistics to show it really doesn’t work.
Danial, lets tone it down. Come on man…please.
Finnpundit:
are you serious? I’ve never heard of such thing! can you explain more? any study/research?
let all know the name of those political prisoners who got executed in the recent series of execustions, also the name of those who recieved capital punishment just for apostasy.
and, Omid, do you know any Bahai executed in recent years (not immediately after revolution)?
Dhabihu’llah Mahrami was the most recent to die in Iranian jails under mysterious circumstances.
You can read his story here.
More than 200 Bahá’ís have been executed or killed since the revolution, hundreds more have been imprisoned, and tens of thousands have been deprived of jobs, pensions, businesses, and educational opportunities. All national and local Bahá’í administrative institutions have been banned by the Government, and Bahá’í holy places, cemeteries and community properties have been confiscated, vandalized, or destroyed.
You can read more about it here.
I know about Dhabihu’llah Mahrami’s case, and all the social discriminations facing bahais. just asked of any executions?
As far as I know there have been no executions recently. The irony of the situation is that the IRI knows Baha’is for the most part are upright and law abiding citizens–even the though the law does not apply to them and is actually harmful to them.
They don’t have any reason to execute Baha’is accept if they just become really mean and start doing it under ridiculous charges. Baha’is are known and have a reputation with most Iranians has being peaceful and obedient.
Baha’is have a good network of people in the UN and various human rights organizations that print and publish anything that may be perceived as imminently dangerous. Unfortunately the international community lets the IRI get away with everything else mentioned above.
Executions for the most part have indeed been lessened as a result of international pressure. However, one thing is increasing and that is that the IRI and its intelligence organizations waste a lot of time monitoring and spying on Baha’is.
Many are under constant phone, computer and physical surveillance for no reason.
If a Baha’i wants to get the ear of the government all they have to do is pick up the phone and start talking because they know someone is listening!
I meant to say that Islamic laws such as those that govern the Islamic faith do not apply to them…not the criminal and civil laws–those apply.
