Sudanese refugees in Israel.
I’m not sure how this topic is received or understood outside of Israel, but the Sudanese refugees who have come here are not 100% invisible.

While Israel does get heat for not doing enough, I haven’t heard about other countries doing much for the Sudanese who have managed to get away. If there are stories to share, please do.

Sudanese refugees in Israel has been widely reported in Western media, in a favorable way. Israel is not the only country that has taken in Sudanese refugees. There are over 3 million Sudanese refugees in Egypt. Things are not the best, considering Egypt is a poor country. Egypt also has the burden of taking in thousands of Iraqi refugees, although it is Syria and Jordan that have taken in the most Iraqi refugees.
I have said this before and I’ll say it again, all factors fueling the violence in Sudan must be addressed or the killings will continue. It would be nice if the genocide in the Congo were addressed as well. I’ve posted several links to articles about this issue at this comment under a different topic http://www.mideastyouth.com/2007/08/19/darfur-is-not-a-zionist-plot/#comment-63590

It is wonderful that Israel has taken as many Sudanese refugees as it could, regardless of their religion and sects. Israel has its own very critical problems and taking in refugees at this time means a great effort. In Iran we don’t even have a single Sudanese refugee. The other day I read about Israeli soccer team playing against a team of Sudanee refugees. I think countries should be inspired by one another in good things that happen:)
Elinor,
Doesn’t Iran have millions of Afghan and Iraqi refugees. I remember several years ago the United Nations (or some other organization) had commended Iran for all the war refugees it had taken in.
