There are no homosexuals in Iran
Have a look to this video: Ahmadinejad Says there are no homosexuals in Iran and everybody laughs at him.
Sometimes people tell us: “he is your president and you’ve voted for him”. NO! I’ve never voted for him and the others who voted did not had any other choice. We only had 2 kind of choices: Islamist reformists and this Ahmadinejad who spoke about the priority of Justice. Poor people and undereducated population voted for him in rural areas. There were no free choice. I’ve did not voted myself at all as many of my friends.
Anyway. I am writing this to tell what you know yourself: There are homosexuals in Iran (as any other place in the world) but they do not have any right. Islamic Republic of Iran do execute them and arrest them. To be hones I am angry. We are used to these kind of interviews and lies but I hoped this not to happen there. Here HE has his police, his judiciary system and his prisons. Nobody can ask him about the reality and he can humiliate reporters. But there are no supporting police and prisons in the USA (for him) so this time he was humiliated. I wish this humiliation does not applies to all Iranians.

Jadi,
I’ve known Iranians living in the US since the days they were escaping the Shaw. I know “AJ” doesn’t speak for you.
Thanks for putting it out there. I wish more Americans and Iranian students would speak… Americans tend to condemn the whole country based on the warped leader… (Maybe it’s also not just Americans, eh?)
He really is a joke! I’m sure most Iranians are fumed to have someone like this “(mis)represent” them.
You’re right, that it’s not just Americans… it’s true for the rest of the world too. But it’s the most dangerous when a strong country has these types of reactions from its public, especially if the government seems to be willing to take action against another country, in this case Iran.
And Columbia facilitated that by elevating Ahmadinejad’s voice above all others, rather than taking the opportunity for some suppressed voices to tell their stories too. The more we hear these suppressed voices and how much they are not represented by their govt. the easier it will be to avoid war.
I agree completely with PV. It’s also a great way to bridge the gap when others realize how much people go through to achieve some freedom and acknowledgment of human rights. Columbia just opened the door to racism, knowing fully well what this crazed leader would be talking about.

I think most Americans know he does not represent the people.
I took Ahmadinejad’s comment to mean that there are no openly gay people in Iran, which is true. I don’t know the context of the quote, but that’s what I understood from it. So I didn’t really find it silly or shocking.
I guess I’m alone on this, lol.

Hey, there are Catholic bishops and African Christian priests who deny the presence of homosexuality as well. Are Christians going to seperate themselves from it?
Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson would be more likely to say such crap, but you will never see Christians denounce them.
Jadi,
I think you would have a hard time finding an American who judged all Iranians by Ahmadinejad. Most of us understand that people are pretty much the same regardless of where they live. There are evil people wherever you go, but, luckily, the majority of people in this world are good. It doesn’t matter where they live, what religion they believe in, most people want the same thing–safety for their family, sufficent food, a few comforts and freedom to live in peace and free from fear. I imagine if I were to come to Iran I would find that the vast majority of Iranians have that in common with me.
John McCain condemned both of them as “agents of intolerance” the first time he ran for President (I don’t know if he’s mentioned them this time around).
Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, I mean.
That is true, but nowadays he is licking their boots.
A fallen jedi, in other words.
