I am personally SO angry when i saw the video of the two gay teens executed in Iran, and my first thought was we should blow the whole place up. I never really realized that the people of Iran are in the position we were in with Bush as President. All of the protest going on there give me hope that the current Iranian government may be toppled and peace and security may someday soon be brought to the Iranian people. I most certainly do no think Iran should be blown up now, really i think the current government should be blown up, a UN force to do it, and keep order and let ALL of the people of Iran make a new government and decide for themselves on SO many issues, I know that in this day and age the majority must be smart enough to realize the value of human life and differences that make it so wonderful. I.E. Homosexuality, Equal Rights for Women, Different religions living in peace! just my little thought after reading about this wonderful site on CNN. Im glad this was made, and published on CNN now so many people will have the ability to talk to others and find out not all arabs or muslims are terrorist and want Jews and Americans dead.

I think you would have a hard time finding an American who judged all Iranians by Ahmadinejad. Most of us understand that people are pretty much the same regardless of where they live. There are evil people wherever you go, but, luckily, the majority of people in this world are good. It doesn’t matter where they live, what religion they believe in, most people want the same thing–safety for their family, sufficent food, a few comforts and freedom to live in peace and free from fear. I imagine if I were to come to Iran I would find that the vast majority of Iranians have that in common with me.

Hey, there are Catholic bishops and African Christian priests who deny the presence of homosexuality as well. Are Christians going to seperate themselves from it?

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson would be more likely to say such crap, but you will never see Christians denounce them.

I took Ahmadinejad’s comment to mean that there are no openly gay people in Iran, which is true. I don’t know the context of the quote, but that’s what I understood from it. So I didn’t really find it silly or shocking.
I guess I’m alone on this, lol.

I agree completely with PV. It’s also a great way to bridge the gap when others realize how much people go through to achieve some freedom and acknowledgment of human rights. Columbia just opened the door to racism, knowing fully well what this crazed leader would be talking about.

Americans tend to condemn the whole country based on the warped leader…

And Columbia facilitated that by elevating Ahmadinejad’s voice above all others, rather than taking the opportunity for some suppressed voices to tell their stories too. The more we hear these suppressed voices and how much they are not represented by their govt. the easier it will be to avoid war.

You’re right, that it’s not just Americans… it’s true for the rest of the world too. But it’s the most dangerous when a strong country has these types of reactions from its public, especially if the government seems to be willing to take action against another country, in this case Iran.
