Update: One Voice Concerts Called Off
In light of the discussions regarding the One Voice Movement in previous posts, I thought some of you would be interested in the latest development, or lack there of.
The article is rather vague as to the reasons for the cancellation of these particular concerts.
I am also curious as to which Leading Palestinians initially supported this, but have since distanced themselves from it, and the reasons for that.
Here is the article.

this guy wrote a detailed post about it:
http://orthodoxanarchist.com/2007/10/14/onevoice-saying-a-lot-of-nothing-loses-palestinian-support/
according to him the palestinian performers withdrew to play at alternative voice, not cause they were threatened.
from the ISM link:
i don’t have a strong position on this whole thing, honestly i just can’t get myself worked up about it either way, but if there were infact not threats and it was just a matter of people pulling out that’s pretty sickening.
what i saw in my paper saturday was that one voice was shut down due to [palestinian] extremists’ threats, which is all most people probably will ever know about it.
From what I know from some OneVoice activists, there were many threats and at least one violent threat against OneVoice offices. It’s a shame this has been cancelled. But, as I said before, I think the real problem is the organizer, Daniel Lubetzky, not the movement. Daniel is a good person who just doesn’t know how to network in the Arab World. He rubs shoulders with Hollywood celebrities, and attracts loads of attentionf or himself. But he’s not good at figuring out that networking is a TWO-WAY STREET.
That made him a sitting duck for the critics of “normalization” to come out of the woodwork and pummel OneVoice down.
Believe it or not, Palestinians and Israelis are partnering in loads of events. I attended one in Tantur and also our own comedy tour of Israel with shows in East Jerusalem. Palestinians and Israelis want it.
But I think the people who don’t want it are the activists — on both sides. There are some really skanky pro-Israel activists out there who spew hatred and anger and I don’t hear anyone from the Jewish American community telling them to shut up … but we only hear about the Arabs and the Palestinians angrily attacking efforts to bridge the gaps, not those on the Israeli side.
I am sorry OneVoice will not be going ahead with their concert.
I know Rev. Attalla Hanna very well. He’s good person. Out spoken but moderate. He speaks out against Israeli actions that violate the spirit of compromise but also sets an example of someone who tries to strengthen the moderate voices among the Palestinians.
Anyway, just my two cents.
Anytime efforts to bring Palestinians and Israelis together fails, that’s a loss for all of us.

I believe it! That’s why I think any time people hype up Jews and Arabs doing anything together like they produced a miracle it’s ridiculous.
Nadia – haha, I agree.
I find it sad, pathetic and disheartening that extremists are being given a pass simply because they are on the “weaker” side. Sorry folks, weakness doesn’t excuse pigheadedness, wrongheadedness or simply being jerks. And that’s what these groups are doing.
Congratulations on proving all the most ardent Zionists correct.
Well, if it were threats they should have gone “on with the show” because giving in empowers the threateners. And it would have been a whole lotta bunk anyway because security is awfully tight for these events. I was thoroughly checked at the Tantur peace music festival and there was tons of security which made me feel, well, secure. Just my three cents….(inflation)
