Thanks a lot for posting this Omid.

It's very important that we extend our efforts to Afghanistan, a country that the international media often ignores or whose reporting we see only from foreign journalists.

We are trying to empower independent Afghan journalists, photographers, and podcasters to report from first-hand experience and to a much wider audience.

Nasim has been doing just that, independently, very courageously and without any sources of funding. You can read about his specific work here.

He is serious and passionate about the job, and he definitely has what it takes (extensive knowledge, courage, open-mindedness, contacts, etc) to get the work done. All we need is your help in raising money so that we can build something reliable and professional.

As you guys know, Mideast Youth is not yet registered as an NGO, and most funders do not support this kind of work. Nasim has registered for several funds and competitions and not a single funder was interested in what he has in mind. But we are. We see the potential, we appreciate the amazing work he's done so far and we want to help. But we can't do it alone. We have to rely on each other to get this done, and we welcome anyone's help with much appreciation.

The only thing donors would have to keep in mind is that this is a project dedicated to Nasim and whoever he wishes to involve within Afghanistan. We only take care of the financial and technical aspects of the project (raising money/building the site); but we will not have editorial control.

Thanks a lot to those who donated so far. It's for a very important cause, and once the project takes off I assure you it will be very informative and amazing. I only hope that others will familiarize themselves with Nasim's outstanding efforts, so that they can help.

To add this widget into your own sites or blogs, please click on "copy" in the widget that is available on the right hand side. You can customize the size, info and color (there is a different code for each blogging platform.)

We really appreciate your help in doing this. All we need to raise is $1,500. It's not much, and it can take us VERY far. Please chip in!
