MEY TV Launched!
Our video-sharing community has finally been launched!
Please check it out and let us know what you think. Don’t expect the very best because we were working under a lot of pressure and with an extremely low budget. It wasn’t an easy to pull this through, but we’re very proud to say that we did, after a lot of hard work. Check out a sample video here (which you can embed on your own blogs too!)
Thanks to our excellent development team for all their hard work and to Lalith for the banner design and occasional consulting.
I hope you all like what you see! Expect some really great videos soon.

You forgot to remove the lense-cap.
The what?
So I misspelled it, it’s supposed to be lens cap.
Basically, I get a black square with a Mideast Youth TV logo, no moving picture.
I see the problem now. The video player thing is not clickable in certain browsers.That is bug #2.
Blah I guess it’s gonna take us another week to get this completely done.
All bugs are fixed and we are reaaaady for action.

Great work guys!
Not to question your efforts, but in an attempt to understand… I wonder why not just using youtube channel for something like that?
Firstly it is banned in several countries, secondly because some of our videos there have been deleted for no apparent reason, certainly not copyright. I got fed up with what really seems like censorship to me. It’s time to lead our own network now, instead of relying on other servers where you have to deal with retarded authorities.
Another thing is that YouTube is huge and none of the videos are focused. You have to dig through too much junk to find anything that is remotely relevant to what you are looking for. I wanted a place where our videos here can last longer and where we can have more privacy in a way, like I have a lot of videos of conferences and I don’t want them to just disappear once I post about it in an entry. I want people to go to an organized place and be exposed to our culture; activities, efforts and experiences without being limited and distracted to YouTube.
This is probably the smartest step we took with our network. I’m sure all our hard work is going to pay off.

I doubt that there would be conscious censorship on youtube, but i can see the flows in their model as you highlight them… your step makes sense.

I did edit my comment to make it clearer, and only admins/moderators can do that.
It’s not that YouTube itself is censoring the videos. Our governments complain; threaten to block YouTube, then YouTube “negotiates” by deleting the videos in question. Their profit and membership rate is apparently more important than free speech.
The whole process is just risky and not worth it. We work hard for our videos and frankly we aren’t comfortable placing them in someone else’s hands.
