It’s not that YouTube itself is censoring the videos. Our governments complain; threaten to block YouTube, then YouTube “negotiates” by deleting the videos in question. Their profit and membership rate is apparently more important than free speech.

The whole process is just risky and not worth it. We work hard for our videos and frankly we aren’t comfortable placing them in someone else’s hands.

I doubt that there would be conscious censorship on youtube, but i can see the flows in their model as you highlight them… your step makes sense.

Another thing is that YouTube is huge and none of the videos are focused. You have to dig through too much junk to find anything that is remotely relevant to what you are looking for. I wanted a place where our videos here can last longer and where we can have more privacy in a way, like I have a lot of videos of conferences and I don’t want them to just disappear once I post about it in an entry. I want people to go to an organized place and be exposed to our culture; activities, efforts and experiences without being limited and distracted to YouTube.

This is probably the smartest step we took with our network. I’m sure all our hard work is going to pay off.

Not to question your efforts, but in an attempt to understand… I wonder why not just using youtube channel for something like that?
