ARAMCO Brats as Saudi Ambassadors..?
[ Introduction ]
“Assalmu Alikum
Once upon a time in a land far, far away there lived a King and his peoples that agreed to work with several Americans to find oil. After much searching in the desert along side one another, they found not only oil but new bonds of friendship and together they happily labored to make the Kingdom into the largest supplier of petroleum the world had ever seen. They would come to call their partnership ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company) but we jump ahead of ourselves, for the first pioneers were not alone in their story – they brought others – those young ones who were destined to partake in the joy and wonders of life in a Kingdom along side their fathers. Perhaps now, if you listen closely, you will hear their tale, a story of a home in a Kingdom far, far away that forever changed several generations’ lives – the Aramco Brats’ Story.” -Aramco Brats

This is a project that i’ve been following for the past few months, and it has been developing in a very fast pace, that i was surprised they released the trailer already.. It’s been there for a while, but i just got around my RSS reader..
Anyways, I’m glad there are people like us who have more knowledge and money to make such a project come true..
One thing that depresses me, Our youth is busy acting “american” on MTV Arabia, not giving a damn about what our country represents, and then NON-Saudis are doing what we’re supposed to do..
Just make sure you download the high resolution trailer, and don’t forget to spread around the link to this website..
Yours,
Lou..

Wow! What an excellent trailer… I cannot wait to see this in its full length. What you said couldn’t be more right here:
So, when and where do I get hold of it?
Never mind, I found it.
Nice trailer….going to get the movie.
Well living in Saudi Aramco is a totally different experience I believe
personally I dont think tht they represent the WHOLE saudi Arabia.. just the ‘Aramco brats’ as the trailer says [who came up with tht anyways?]
but still I would love to see the whole movie.. I really hope tht they show it at the Saudi Aramco Exhibit here in Dhahran
n I think the very last comment wouldn’t trade anything for it is the best!
thnx for sharing n keep us updated
Muneeb;
I think the movie’s aim is something like what’s happening these days.. I mean, for example, why do most Americans have a bad image and/or idea about Saudis? it’s because those wacky nutjob americans who just go to them and tell them “Let me tell you something i saw, i know, i faced, i heard, i read.. about Saudi” and they won’t bother asking a native Saudi about it.. Hence why the weird rumors that hover around Saudi’s in particular.. So, why bother interview Saudi’s, since they already lost their credibility for some reason, and just interview normal Americans who happen to live and have first hand encounters with Saudi in Society and Profession..
Being fortunate enough to know some Aramconians, and they happen to be frustrated on how the Americans back home have this demonic image of Saudis.. It’s from there that the movie aimed to give the story, hence the movie is aimed at Americans, and done by them, but shows a really good slice of society.. As for the “Aramco Brats”, it’s a name given by ARAMCO itself as it was hip a couple of years back.. it’s just a term that is familiar to most American middle east expats..
Anyways, so far, i gave you all the sites, and added a couple of RSS leaches to it.. So i’d know first hand.. So, stay posted people..
Have a great 2008..
Yours,
Lou..
Look at this way..
In general, Saudis had their image skewed and distorted by The media.. More precisely, the american media, and those american individuals (either in real life or on the web, like youtube) tend to spread around whatever they can from rumors and rubbish to give this demonic image.. Now, even if you’re a talented speaker, you’d find it hard (if not rare) to try to even convince them otherwise (although you’re a native) since you already lost your credibility.. So what’s better than having even another set of good americans speak the truth, so they’d hear it from them if they couldn’t hear it from the natives themselves.. It’s actually a smart move if you think about it..
It does describe a small slice of Saudi, but a small slice that is tasty makes people look around for the pie..
As for the term “Aramco Brats” it’s more of an inside joke terminology that is called for the sons and daughters of the foreign expats and workers of the ARAMCO compound..
Don’t thank me.. Just yet.. hehehehe..
