Day of Blog Silence for Fouad
We are organizing a day of blog silence for Fouad, the currently detained Saudi blogger. Mary has written everything you need to know about this action here. (Thanks, Mary!)
We’ll also be replacing the main page of Mideast Youth with a banner in support of Fouad (the main blog will still be readable, but only after our readers have been made aware of Fouad’s case.)

Fouad Al Farnan and Abdel Kareem are both very, very, very brave young men. I really admire their courage and conviction and will pray daily for their safety. The world certainly needs more like them.
Thank you for bringing this case to people’s attention.
I bet you wont get as many Western bloggers to give as much attention to Fouad Al Farnan’s case as they have with Abdel Kareem because Westerner “activists” are more interested in people who bash Islam. It helps them forget about the death and destruction caused by Western democracies. They have little to say about how while Western democracies preach human rights and democracy, thy engage in regime change and support brutal dictators and kings who do their bidding.
I would love to see Western “activists” demand that the U.S. stop accepting trillions of dollars of investment money from the Saudis. They should demand the U.S. stop making millions of dollars by selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and other gulf states.
Has any one heard of the Billal Hussein Case? See http://www.blackagendareport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=478&Itemid=1
Let us not politicize this day, and think about Fouad instead.
Esra’a,
I checked the blog when the day had passed, but I support the things we can do to help them out.
Thanks to the Arab Press Network for picking up the news.
