Afghan Press: LAUNCHED!

by

After a lot of hard work, it is with great pride that we officially announce our latest project: Afghan Press.

This is a project that we are technically coordinating to eventually leave in the hands of its founding editor, Nasim Fekrat, and his colleagues. The network includes young Afghan photographers, professional journalists from around the country, prominent bloggers, activists and more.

To summarize our vision:

  • We want to improve media outlets within Afghanistan through new technologies.
  • We want to use digital media to show the world what currently goes unreported; things happening in Afghanistan’s remote villages, to people never given a chance to communicate with the rest of the world.
  • In order to share a realistic portrayal of Afghanistan with the rest of the world, we aim to involve as many locals as possible in reporting the world around them, thus concretely enhancing the lives of Afghan people.
  • We envision this taking the form of digital media, documentaries, podcasts, online TV, journalism, women blogging, youth empowerment via the internet and beyond.

This cannot be possible without your help and involvement. To succeed, we would be required to provide translation services, seminars, tutorials, and we hope to hire local developers to help us run the website as efficiently as possible.

Much of what you see could not have been possible without the help of our generous donors so far. People who read about this project and helped us out: You made this happen. THANK YOU!

We did not reach our target, but we’re doing our best with the amount that we received. Right now, we do not ask for more than $3,000 to help us run this project for the year. Please, do what you can to help out! The project has a lot of potential. You can donate via the donation widget below, or you can simply spread the word!
