IF I DARE TO SAY THIS!
March 8th, 2008It is always like this… violence here triggers violence there. It is an endless chain of tit for tat and the civilians are the ones who always pay the lion’s share of loss and grief. I just read a very heartrending story of a two-month-old little baby girl, Amira, who was shot dead, Tuesday, in her mom’s arms at the house’s door step after the Israeli forces ordered through loud speakers the residents of the house to evacuate. Many other kids were killed in a more or less similar vicious way during the Israeli army several incursions in different parts of Gaza strip in the past few days. We must realize that we are dealing with an army that knows no mercy and that is trained to kill indiscriminately the young and the old. An army equipped with the most advanced devastating and deadly weapons in the world. We are not like Hezbullah. we don’t have effective weapons to stand up to this army and Gaza strip is a plain area, any target can be easily spotted by the Israeli war planes hovering 24/24 over Gaza. It is suicide what the fighters are doing here. Why don’t we spare the lives of the hundreds if not thousands of the innocent civilian Palestinians who have been killed and will be killed in a battle we already know we are losing!!
If I dare to say this !!! Some of the deceived by the parades of fake victories that the resistance claims every time there is an Israeli incursion in Gaza Strip, though usually one or two of the Israeli soldiers would be killed or injured in such incursions sometimes non, while tens of Palestinians ,mostly civilians, would perish.
If I dare to say this, some of those young guys who are happy maybe with the rifles given to them by some Palestinian faction or with being called “heroes” and who for them joining a Palestinian faction is the best way and shortest rout to support himself and his family even after he gets killed in an Israeli attack or incursion … the outside-funded faction would take care of every thing and would hail him an unprecedented hero in his funeral ( who would dare to say something other than that even if He didn’t actually shoot one bullet) what other option does a young poor guy like this have, this seems to be the best option in a country ravaged by war and without any future or opportunities even if he got some education… the chance to find a job or work is very slim because thousands of other graduates would be fighting for and with the Palestinian interior a complete mess.. there is no state hiring any more also because of the siege there is no hiring elsewhere.
Also if I dare to say this, one of the big-belly and big “head” seniors of the Palestinian “Islamic” factions who usually features on T.V political shows or newscasts magnifying and praising the Palestinian feeble poorly equipped and trained fighters as if they are an army equal in power to the Israeli army and claiming that they have achieved the balance of terror on the Israeli part by home-made rockets usually fall in the Israeli open field and have caused a few causalities in the Israeli side ever since they were used while on the Palestinian side the scale of destruction, causalities and deaths sustained in the Israeli attacks and invasions into Gaza allegedly in response to the Palestinian rockets ,which are more or less like fireworks but of course magnified by the Israeli media to Scud or even tomahawk rockets, is beyond belief. Nevertheless he would call upon the Palestinian helpless who can barely afford bread to their hungry children to give more sacrifice, to lose their homes, children, property and land for nothing in return but more suffering… But of course he is getting a lot in return from the country that hired him and his tongue to speak on behalf of the Palestinian people and to serve not the Palestinian people of course but that country’s best interest in the region. It is dirty business stained with the blood of thousands of innocent Palestinians. The times when the Palestinian freedom fighters would fight only for Palestine not for another country or for a faction has unfortunately gone. And now is the time of the blood traders who play the Palestinian people’s future and fates as if they are puppets. I am sure, for those sadists the Palestinian blood means nothing, the more is spelt the better !!! Ever since, the Palestinian cause has been minimized from an Arab-Israeli cause to a Palestinian – Israeli one… the Palestinian cause has been sold in a public auction for any one who can pay.
If I dare to say this… I would be called a traitor, a supporter of Israel or at best a defeatist. When all I want is for my people and myself to live in peace and stability and to build up a model state in the small portion of land we have now be it Gaza Strip to prove to the world that we are worthy of our land and worthy of our greater land Palestine. But it seems for many here, self-homicide is the easier more lucrative option .. building a state is a hard job.

Palestinians, like all good people, deserve the chance at a better life. There are forces at work which seek to deny them that opportunity. And there are also those who believe in the possibility of peace, prosperity, and freedom.
I have a vision of a Palestine that is prosperous and free, and that sets the stage for the liberation and empowerment of the whole Middle East.
What do you think would be the steps needed for such a vision to come true?
Dear all… I hope u liked the article and thought it was good. Actually it was a yell inside me I have been holding inside for quite long time .. it was hitting and torturing me to be released. Thanks God, I now do feel a bit relieved with it out of me though nothing has changed on the ground. After I sent it to many friends and had the chance to post it here .. I had a whisper of a fear that some might get mad at me and say … It is the resistence that u were bitching about in this crap u wrote… how dared you!! many would tell me this… thinking maybe the resistance or what is called resistance is the only defender of the Palestinian people against the Israeli atrocities committed every day…
The truth is that the resistance fighters cant even defend themselves and the Israeli army with its war machine hunt them like rabbits or even mice needless to mention the increasing number of civilians cought in the middle and left either dead or with disabilities… It is not a shame to surrender before this gigantic war machine that claims the lives of tens every time it rears its ugly head… Great countries surrendered in world war II when they were defeated and built up themselves from the ashes… the shame is to pose an easy ducks, get killed and get your people to get killed along and pretend the victor and the victim at the same time. It is not a shame to admit our weakness, lack of potentials and call upon the world for protection instead of getting the world to hold us responsible for our miseries and put the blame on us and thus without knowing help the Israeli occupation to figure as innocent snow white from its crimes against the Palestinian people. Anyone would say something other than this… does know nothing and has no feelings.
NOooo dont worry .. I am not gonna write another article now …. the one I wrote earlier can bring me enough trouble… It is good enough to charge me with high treason and inflect upon me the worst of punishment… Unfortunately, the people who rule here are nothing but trash with no common sense .. so any one with a good head on his shoulders tries to say something other than what they promote to the poor public here is to be hushed forever before even uttering a word. Because people as such are a threat to their very existence. They dont want people who want to build the country, they only want power and easy money.
I think for Palestine to be free and a prosperous country empowered by the whole world… We as Palestinians, have to stop being puppets or playing cards in the hands of any other country with interests in the region and think and work only for the best of Palestine. This blood game must stop. We all know, we can’t win a war with Israel alone. So why to continue to give Israel more excuses to kill more of us… because there people who pay the price? Has our blood become something to trade? I think, to use the power of diplomacy is our best option and to totally give up on weapons for the time being… isnt that embarassing enough to Israel before the international community?… what excuse would Israel use to clog the negotiations of peace? let’s try this.. what more would we lose than we already lost?
I will not let media deceive me into thinking Palestinians just want death and cheer when any body in israel is killed. There is a war and there is a conflict and in a conflict both sides are there to fight with their lives, it is very sickening to see children, the innocent children of Palestinians lifeless on the hands, because some people in the close by region has fires Qassams, not even thinking of the consequences, or justifying the consequences, it is very painful to see that. It is equally painful to see kids in Sderot smeared with blood and being taekn to hospital, or the outcomes of the suicide bombings, a group of people who have had no role in whatever is happening there in the region perish altogether, pay for what is happening without being a part of it. At the same time people very soon forget the teacher, the Palestinian teacher whose 7 year old son was killed in a raid, and his father, instead of asking or calling for revenge donating the body parts of his son to 5 Israeli, Palestinian, jewish and Arab and beduin people in need. He called for peace and understanding and an end to all this craze with his actiin, Palestinians and Israelis were all touched and we could see how he revived many lives and minds and the drying sources of hope with his Heroic decision, on both sides. The media very soon forget an event as such. In some countries perhaps like my own, it is not even reflected, they are scared if we ever get the idea of possible peace between the two parties, looks like they lose a lot in that case. We are there with all of you, in our souls and our hearts and any way possible to revive all the good things that naturally belongs to that Land of Peace and Salaam and Shalom. We are waiting fgor you guys to shake hands and just move on.

I appreciate your courageous speaking about your feelings. But no one puts himself in Palestinian shoes. No one understand how much they suffer and how much its hard to bear the situation! They just sit and Judge you from their comfortable societies and may ask why they do some like these.
I believe in you and believe that when you put someone under pressure, they will act something awesome. But world and no one asks WHY did he act like that. No one sees the fundamentals that lead someone to act like these. no one sees suffering and pressure! No one understands!
Then they just Judge and judge from their friendly and convenient sits!

The poor and desperate have always been the prime recruiting fields for armies; dazzled by rhetoric and promises of adventure and rewards, given weapons and promised that their frustrations can be released upon the enemy, and then ground up into the anonymous butcher shop of the battlefield. I will pose a fundamental question to this conflict by making perhaps an erroneous assumption, but here goes: I think that the Israelis have enough cohesiveness among their people and military to abide by a comprehensive peace agreement. I cite the abandonment of the Gaza settlements as an example of this. The question I pose here is: Will the Palestinian people ever possess this degree of collective will to abide by such an agreement? Will all the militias, power groups, gangs and cells ever be able to do such a thing while Israel still exists? Also, could both sides ever get beyond the concept of collective culpability? Because even if the Israelis and Palestinians were to reach such an agreement, the degree of resentment and hatred on both sides is such that all it would take is a gun happy settler or a foreign agitator to destroy such an agreement with an act of violence.

I think we must look further than the one example you provide to judge whether Israel is indeed able to abide by the current peace agreements, let alone future ones. What about the new approved settlement in the West Bank? Here is a link that may provide a little insight to Israel’s violations of current peace agreements.
And as per your posed question, I would say it was not so much Israel’s existence that disables the Palestinian people from abiding by such agreements, but rather 1) the ineffective/unrecognised/corrupt/violent groups in power 2) the inability for a real, viable and acceptable Palestinian state to be proposed.
Ramzy… I appreciate your honesty… I often wonder what the real people are thinking, and I know it’s probably diverse. I’ve stopped reading the papers for reality checks.
It is very sad to that maybe the best choice for a young Palestinian boy is to join the army in a time of war. It is even sadder that the Israeli boys/teens see themselves as heroes for killing innocent people. Now its not entirely their fault with the governments propoganda and what not. These boys/people need to be informed about what is really happening on both sides.
This made me cry when I read this.
I am sorry for everything that has happened to the Palestinian people but there is pain on both sides. You say that only a few IDF soldiers die, that isn’t true. Israelis die all the time too. That doesn’t justify the killing of innocent people, though. But just as it doesn’t justify killing by Israelis it doesn’t justify attacks by Arabs.
I respect Arabs and Muslims. In actuality, we are all brothers and sisters. I don’t think, though, that people realize that as a people we went into this with all odds against us and no one supporting us. It’s amazing the Israeli people have any support today. It is amazing we managed to establish our land (OUR does not mean Jews, it means Jews and Muslims).
There is so much sadness I feel when anyone dies. It makes me week to hear about a Palestinian child dying just as it does when I hear about rockets falling kibbutzim on the borders. I don’t want Palestinians to have to live in fear of their neighbors just like how Jewish children don’t deserve to be told that they will be pushed into the sea by Arabs. I don’t want anyone to die anymore and I don’t want there to be anymore fighting.
I apologize for all that has happened to Palestine, but please try and understand what has happened to us, too. I respect you and want you to respect me. We are neighbors and I hope to God that you get to live in your own country one day.
