The poor man who stood against a world

April 3rd, 2008Lord Kavi (Iran)

These days there is a discussion over a film, named ‘Fitna’. I didn’t watch this movie myself but I read here and there to figure it out. In short I should say its nothing more than a try to induce Islam world again, after a well inducing by anti-islamic cartoons. Movie doesn’t even worth to watch as it has nothing to present just a man’s hatred, anger or maybe fear.
Fortunately, world responsed to this seed of hatred well. Prime Minister of the Netherlands came with a reaction on behalf of the Dutch government. [1] The Centraal Joods Overleg (Central Jewish Committee) condemned the film for reinforcing prejudices by implying that all Muslims are terrorists. [2] Also United Nations Secretary-General issued a statement on March 28: “I condemn, in the strongest terms, the airing of Geert Wilders’ offensively anti-Islamic film. There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free expression is not at stake here. I acknowledge the efforts of the Government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of this film, and appeal for calm to those understandably offended by it. Freedom must always be accompanied by social responsibility.” [3]
Singaporean deputy prime minister, Australia’s minister for foreign affairs, The Iranian minister, The United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister, Pakistan, Jordan, Qatar, Saudia Arabia, Yemen, Indonesia, The European Union’s Slovenian president, Norway, The EU foreign ministers and many more have condemned the ‘Fitna’ movie as a Fitna (disagreement and division among people) and an obvious attempt to generate discord and hatred between faith communities.
Poor Geert Wilders, have you ever thought about the results and reactions of your movie? I explain them.
These attemps have no results but inducing Islam world hatred and opposition against what you may call freedom of speech. These acts will strong Islam world and stick them all to their belief stronger than before.
It will flame the fire of terror all around the world and specially in Europe and Holland as you’ve experienced it with those cartoons. The world would be an insecure again. Your economical situaion goes bad as Islam world would ban trading in the first move.
Your act wasn’t intelligent because you proposed nothing related to reasoning and was all irrational!
And also wasn’t freedom of speech as UN Secretary-General declared because it has no social responsibility. Then have I legitimation to declare that Christianity world slaughtered Jews through Nazism? And entitle Christianity with Genocide?

But I think there was another reason for you to air ‘Fitna’: becoming famous by a night!

Lets make the world a better place. Why did you forget the next verse of Quran below?

“If they seek peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the One that heareth and knoweth all things.” Quran, 8.61

Lately, I was trying to find a solution beyond religion adherence, Esra trys to set Kareem free with that Campaign. MEY and other associated websites are trying to make the world a better place. You know why? Because Middle Eastern Muslims are still seeking for peace, love and better life. But what about you, the people who have alleged freedom of speech? Spreading the seed of hatred!

  1. Fitna! Fundamentally frightening!

Yesterday a Dutch parliamentary member called attention to a short internet based documentary, called, “Fitna!” It has broadcast through the entire world community and clearly shows the side of Islamic militancy that unfortunately is happening throughout the world. The documentary really causes quite a bit of discontent among Muslim and Jewish faithful cultures. It should also cause a ripple with Christian cultures as well. The documentary clearly illustrates the need for the peaceful end to religious violence by all denominations throughout the world. The goal of religious understanding and tolerance should indeed constitute a part of religious diplomacy and understanding; however, accelerated violence and international terrorism are not the answers to the solution.
The internet presentation of,”Fitna!” is a frightening portrayal of the feared dystrophic society that is championed by Islam in its global goal of evangelization and conversion. If indeed, the Moslem sentiments are consistent with this presentation, then Western Europe and the rest of the world needs to worry about terroristic carnage committed in the name of Allah.
The terrorist attacks of 911 in New York City and the London bombings of 2005 are graphically shown in a clip that accentuates the spread of extremism and social anarchy in the name of religion.
The content is offensive. It is also a chilling reminder of the turbulent and chaotic world situation in which modern peoples are engaged. After watching this clip on the internet, there is no room for anyone to deny the need for heightened global activities against religious terrorism of all types. The pursuit of universal religious harmony and bilateral tolerance is the ultimate goal all nations and religious peoples hope to achieve. However, the movie, “Fitna!” most appropriately illustrates the intrinsically evil and immoral actions of religious jihad that happen in the world.
Western cultures need to safeguard their nations and peoples against all acts of global terrorism. However raising the ugly head of discrimination and suggesting violent retaliation between the world’s religious communities is not the answer. Christians, Jews and Muslims should all be frightened by the prospects associated with extremist religious activities of all denominations. The continued conflicts in the Middle East, the Persian Gulf and the religious unrest in China are all indicative of the immediate need towards factual religious education and understanding. While the creeds of all of the three monotheistic religions might differ, there is no need to perpetuate violence and destruction. The concept of religious tolerance and coexistence should provide the world with a common goal, peace and understanding in our respective faiths.

Last time I checked, Usama’s reasoning for 9/11 was not Islam, it was “as you lay waste to our nation, so shall we lay waste to yours.”

Of course I am not denying the other acts of terrorism in the name of a religion.

On many occasions, these people don’t do what they do for Islam, it’s just that they are part a religion and their actions are politically motivated. Benazir Bhutto’s assassination comes to mind as one also, but Western media somehow managed to blame it on Islam.

  4. Dear Hugh McNichol,
Wilder’s act wasn’t less than a exterimist religious terrorist who kills life! He is as vicious as a terrorist may be! He tried to destroy a culture and belief, what is more vicious!

  5. While the creeds of all the three monotheistic religions might differ, there is no need to perpetuate violence and destruction. The concept of religious tolerance and coexistence should provide the world with a common goal, peace and understanding in our respective faiths.

That’s all well and good, Hugh. But how do you pull it off?

Obviously, the values taught by each religion are not enough to stem the tide of violence and hate. Religions are supposed to teach peace, but peace is not at hand. Something is missing.

Therefore, it would make sense that some sort of ideological framework, outside the realm of religion, is needed to bring a semblance of order to our lives. Religion, by itself is not enough. As you suggest, different religions teach different things, and some of us hang out hats on the differences and are moved toward violence. Others use the differences for poltical reasons to consolidate political power.

What is needed is An Ideology of Common Sense, which is backed up with money on the table, in the form of investment and jobs. It is time to let go of some of our beliefs, in favor of beliefs which make more sense. And it is time, as we come together technologically and economically, to come together ideologically as well. New economic realities on the ground will give our good intentions a good measure of credibility, and will push people in the direction of giving each other the benefit of the doubt ideologically. If you finally get a place at the table, a stake in your future, then you are less likely to succumb to the ideological nonsense that would take that future away.

In other words, Hugh, talking about interfaith dialogue, as well intentioned as it may be, is not enough. We have to create new realities on the ground which speak louder than words. We can do that by investing in one another, and by using that new reality to underpin a new ideological dialectic which makes more sense, and which gives more hope.

  6. Why not just explain why Islam is connected to so much violence, rather than denying Geert Wilders film. If it insults Islam to point out that lots of Muslims are vicious killers, then why not address why so many Muslims lack respect for the basic human dignity of non-Muslims. If you do not suppress violent Muslims are work against them we non-Muslims must conclude that you silently support people like Bin Laden. Is that not a rational conclusion for us to make? Consider that many many Christians have protested and challenged George W. Bush and the war in Iraq, but few Muslims seem to challenge the violent statements and positions in Muslim countries. How can we not conclude that you are supporters of this violence.

Anyway, after the poor charity to the Muslims suffering from the 2004 Tsunami, I’d be embarrassed to be a Muslim. It was the Western Christians, myself included who helped out the most. Your Ummah is a joke!

  7. Charles Martel (oh what a clever name), for someone who pretends to be a scholar of history do you know much about the various European leaders who for many years violently oppressed Jews, fellow Christians, and many other minorities, like the Huguenots? What about all the violence that occurred supposedly in the name of your religion? What about the Christian persecution of Jews? I don’t see many reasons for you to act all superior.

You should be so embarrassed of yourself for making such a comment that you may as well walk around with a garbage bag on your face.

I’d be embarrassed to be a Muslim.

Good. We’d be embarrassed to have a shallow person like you amongst us.

It was the Western Christians, myself included who helped out the most.

Sigh. What a pathetic comment to be making.

Who do you think gave billions and donated millions to hospital care during your Hurricane Katrina? That’s right, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, both Muslim nations. Obviously you’d never acknowledge such thing or admit the fact that your own government was incompetent throughout the chaos. Unlike you though, we don’t rub this on everyone’s face and claim to be heroic, you insufferable bore. People should care because of their interest in helping humanity, regardless of any individual’s background or religion, not for the sake of playing the moral superiority card only to prove an incorrect and poorly argued ideological perspective.

The hypocrisy within your attitude is not even subtle. You claim to respect human rights and yet you show nothing but contempt to Muslims worldwide, justifying their oppression and any discrimination against them merely because of the actions of the few (at least you won’t find many Muslims exemplifying Christianity by the KKK and the BNP,) all the while holding your shallow self superior to everyone else who is unlike you. Can you be any more simpleminded and bigoted? People like you inspire much of the violence and hatred in this world, so if anyone needs to be embarrassed, it’s you. What a tragic character you are.

Don’t bother making any further comments. Your friends in the sandbox at Jihad Watch are waiting for you to fling more of this bullshit around the interwebs, so that decent people everywhere can cringe in disgust at how ignorant you and your laughable ilk are.

  8. If you do not suppress violent Muslims are work against them we non-Muslims must conclude that you silently support people like Bin Laden. Is that not a rational conclusion for us to make?

No, it’s not – especially since the same criteria isn’t applied to other religious groups. Also, haven’t you considered that not engaging in terrorism is a form of condemnation?

It is impossible to expect the world’s 1.2 billion Muslims to individually condemn terrorism. Many religious leaders – whom Muslims depend on for decrying violence – have done just that.

Since you seem sufficiently computer literate, I suggest you try performing a google search. “Muslims against terrorism” for instance.

  9. Murderous and unscrupulous people throughout history have hijacked religion (the Big 3 certainly)for purposes of their own. They claim that their holy whatever demands blood for something or other. It’s all bullshit. Christianity, Hinduism, Zen, animism, a bunch of ‘em….all have used the excuse of religion to exercise violence for power, or enrichment. Just a fancy form of robbery. That is what is happening now. Everybody has an “excuse” but it’s still about power, money or sexual dominance. End of story. The rest is just glorified horse pucky! Go nuts Esra’a…Make ‘em quit already!

  10. If you do not suppress violent Muslims are work against them we non-Muslims must conclude that you silently support people like Bin Laden. Is that not a rational conclusion for us to make?

With this logic, you will fail any critical thinking course if you ever take one.

Why not just explain why Islam is connected to so much violence

Christianity is connected to more violence then Islam… then again who’s counting.

Consider that many many Christians have protested and challenged George W. Bush and the war in Iraq, but few Muslims seem to challenge the violent statements and positions in Muslim countries.

Only reason you haven’t heard these Muslims is because it doesn’t appear on your FOX News.

Also, many would be silenced and killed by Western backed governments. Ohh btw, why are the Western countries supporting these dictators anyways?

    Lets do math,
Western countries = democracies, democracy = rule of people
Western countries support dictators who oppress those who protest against Islamic extremism
You asking people in the Muslim world to talk against extremism is contradicting what you practice.

  11. You asking people in the Muslim world to talk against extremism is contradicting what you practice.

Yeah, but does that mean he’s wrong? If you’re overweight and a fat doctor tells you to diet, is he wrong?

  12. Yeah, but does that mean he’s wrong? If you’re overweight and a fat doctor tells you to diet, is he wrong?

Invalid comparison, the fat doctor is not spoon feeding the fat person and then telling him to diet. You can’t tell people to speak up against extremists and give weapons and resources to those extremists who would kill them for just that.

Also this very website exist as a medium for moderate members of the Middle East to speak up against such extremism under death threat to the authors, even though almost all of them live in the Middle East, yet people have the audacity to come here and demand that they denounce extremism etc. Doesn’t make any sense.

  14. “…there is a deep and bitter irony in the West’s current claims to be standing up to evil religious sects in the name of universal values. It was precisely the West’s earlier disregard for secularism and democracy in the Middle East, its elevation of its own powerful interests over the needs and desires of local populations, which helped to give rise to a layer of apparently “evil” radical Islamism. What we have today is not a World War between a principled West and psychotic groups from “over there,” but rather the messy residue of decades of Western meddling in the Middle East.

Duplicitous Western support for Islamist movements has a long and dishonorable history. In the early and middle 20th century, both British and U.S. intelligence supported the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, the group from which so many of today’s radical Islamic sects – including Hamas and even al-Qaeda – have sprung. Indeed, in the 1920s, the British, then the colonial rulers of Egypt, helped to set up the Muslim Brotherhood as a means of keeping Egyptian nationalism and anti-colonialism in check. The immediate precursor to the Muslim Brotherhood was an organization called the Society of Propaganda and Guidance, which was funded and backed by British colonialists. In return, the Society provided Islamist backing to British rule in Egypt. It published a journal called The Lighthouse, which attacked Egyptian nationalists – who wanted British forces out of Egypt – as “atheists and infidels.” Under British patronage, the Society set up the Institute of Propaganda and Guidance, which brought Islamists from across the Muslim world to Egypt so they could be trained in political agitation, and then take such anti-anti-colonialism back to their own homelands.”

  16. Then why bother posting an elaborated response?

All the images/quotes were already seen/used before. Geert did not offer anything new, he merely compiled it, so the chances of Lord Kavi coming across them are definite, and therefore his response still stands. Everyone deserves to articulate a reaction to this video and what it’s trying to promote.

  17. “I didn’t watch this movie myself but I read here and there to figure it out. ” Then why bother posting an elaborated response?

    Dear Tom,
Then I didnt write criticism on the movie. I wrote the reflections, reflexes and reactions such a movie could have; With no advocacy, not muslims and not christians! I wrote about its side effects!

    Did these all bother you?

Such movies better be ignored than to write criticism on them!

  18. People,

What’s the deal with Kawthar (Sudan)comments:

“Also, haven’t you considered that not engaging in terrorism is a form of condemnation?”

“It is impossible to expect the world’s 1.2 billion Muslims to individually condemn terrorism. Many religious leaders – whom Muslims depend on for decrying violence – have done just that.”

So! Let’s see, if you don’t rape, you are not condoning it. Are you kidding me? What kind of logic is that? It’s called appeasement. See the following link:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMLJJEDDDGc&feature=related

When Hitler, a supposed Christian, engaged in genocide, a lot of the Christian world turned there heads and did not engage. They were wrong. Not until the European continent was in jeopardy that people started to wake up. This man was killing his own brethren. He is insane. Hitler was the worst terrorist the world has seen since the Roman Empire.

Now we are confronted with another global challenge. The Islamic terror networks claiming with authority of God, permission to rid the world of so called Infidels. It spans the entire globe. It is a serious problem. It could cause WWIII. People of the World have responded poorly. Now some of the worlds militaries are involved and more innocent people are dying. In Iraq, the US invasion has opened up a hornets nest. It was a bad idea. The vast majority of the Iraqis did not ask for invasion. People need to stop the violence, by not only not engaging in terrorist retaliation, but by advocating peace. Openly condemnation of the evil merits of so called Muslims must be done. Lay down the arms. Call for a truce. Including the US. People must stand up and say enough. Take back your neighborhoods. Flush the terrorist out by not harboring or appeasing them. That should be done over the entire globe. People in the US have risen up and condemned both the terrorist and the US foreign policy. That is the greatness of freedom of speech. So with this freedom of speech, prove Mr. Wilder wrong, by words of merit and not words of hate or silly videos like “Schism (The Bible version of Fitna)”. A film to try to explain to non-Muslims, specifically Christian how they as Muslims felt in watching Fitna. There are plenty of examples of atrocities by Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhist, ect… What is the point? 2 negatives do not make a positive regarding emotional distress. People should advocate peace and engage in discussions of solutions.

  19. Steve, I can relate to your sense of frustration. Sometimes we wonder why people don’t speak out in a more forceful way. My guess is that in some instances at least, people are intimidated to speak out. In some societies, when you speak out you take your life in your hands. It’s not like you’re in America, free to say whatever you want to say.

But I think you are still right to suggest that even in the most oppressive societies, people still have an obligation to make their feelings known, in ways that they deem appropriate. The trick is to empower them to do that. And to empower people you need a plan. You can’t just criticize them for not speaking out. That will not work. You need to empower them by selling them on a vision of hope. Once people can envision the possibility of hope, they are more likely to speak out, and to take a risk in order to make the vision real. It’s something along the lines of what Dr. King did with civil rights in the U.S.

I personally believe in Selling a Vision of Hope. You are welcome to check it out at http://www.sellingavisionofhope.org I try to sketch out a step by step approach as to how you could create facts on the ground which speak louder than words, and which will inspire people to speak out, and to speak truth to power. You are welcome to register and comment as I consider each and every comment a valuable contribution to the ultimate goals of peace, prosperity, and freedom.

  20. Nissim,

I agree with you. A comprehensive solution of dialogue and economic-social reform is needed. It should start from the grass roots. With a strong base of people, it would get the attention of local and national governments.

It requires the same approach that a community would deal with a local gang. It includes more than just security and police efforts.

The youth of the world, throughout history have always been a key to long term prosperity with peace and freedom. These youth are searching for identity as they become engaged with society. Joining gangs and extremist ideology often provides a voice for them. An identity. A purpose. But often with an unbalanced twisted reality. This is not exclusive to youth. Many older and so called wise men engage in this and are trapped in the identity vacuum.

By providing alternative solutions to violence, we can inspire an entire generation with opportunities of social and economic change.

  21. Steve, the “gang” analogy is not a bad one. The extremists do subscribe to a gang-type mentality. They can recruit young men and women because they offer an identity, as you suggest, and an ideological framework of empowerment, and resistance. To a young person, who lacks a strong sense of himself, even a twisted ideology is preferable to no ideology. Even an extreme identity is preferable to no identity.

If we are to defeat this extremist mindset, we have to penetrate their thinking, and in effect co-opt their strategy by doing what they do only better, and thereby beating them at their own game. If they are ideological about Jihad; we should be ideological about Common Sense. If they invest peanuts in charitable handouts; we should invest some serious dollars in jobs. If they sell a vision of hope for martyrdom, or paradise, or what have you; we should sell a Vision of Hope for Peace, Prosperity, and Freedom. At every turn we will cut them off at the pass, and beat them at their own game, by marginlizing them in the eyes of their own people.

The extremists will not be able to capture the public imagination once people begin to imagine a better life for themselves. And once a young person is making a living, and providing for his family, he will be much less inclined to join the bandwagon of martyrdom and extremism. The extremists will then begin to feel the lonliness of being out of step with the will of the people. The will of the masses will not be deterred. Give the man on the street a sense of hope, a stake in his future, and he will give you back his heart in return.

Please don’t hesitate to comment on my website. I think you have a lot to offer in this regard.
