Just because India looks secular on the outside, does not mean idol worshipers love Christains, St thomas was killed by Hindus, thousands and thousands of Tribals of mongloian origin living in north eastern India have died under hands of Hindu soldiers, they were mostly Christian.

Many Hindus have rejected or threatened christian converts with death.

What about them? When the Arab church starts to understand the suffering of other people in other countries, then may be God may truely bring some breakthrough for them.

I have had many Arab Christians scoff at me and say “Hinduism does not hate Christians etc etc” this is complete utter garbage and lie and a salt on our wounds.

When you spread the gospel, you will get opposition from the devil. And Hinduism is no exception.

Our synod president is also participating with a group of christian leaders in all political activities in the country and invited whenever there is an important regional issue.

I have MANY blood relatives who are in high positions in the government, so imagine from one family many positions.

Plus when I was in university me and my Muslim, christian friends used to practice a wide range of social activities and no one ever abused us.

If you want to talk about numbers, well if you have
10 people: 9 of them from type A and 1 is from type B
Then if you do elections the chance for type B to appear is 1/10
That’s just a small math fact..

This is why Christians aren’t really forming the greatest number in government.

What about Christians? Aren’t they citizens themselves?

I just said that in Bahrain, Christians serve in the government. Have you ever heard of non-citizens serving in a government?

Secondly, there is no discrimination here against Arab Christians who practice their religion widely and freely; I repeat that there are at least 4 Arab Christians within the government while certain Muslim sects cannot get high positions. There is more discrimination against some Muslims themselves than there is against Christians.

Furthermore, we have 7 churches and over 4 bible schools that even Muslims attend for educational purposes. So your general implication that somehow Christians in the entire Arab and Muslim world are hated or severely discriminated against is false. Ironically you’re asking people to stop generalizing when you’re the one doing so yourself; resorting to blanket statements does not do anyone any justice. The situation of Christians as a minority in Muslim-majority countries differ from one country to the other, and currently they are certainly not as abused as other minorities such as Baha’is or Jews, including certain Muslim sects. Come and tell us here that Arab Christians are worse off than Shi’ites (who are Muslims and in fact members of the majority) and claim that Arab Christians are less favored by the government and everyone will laugh, since we all know that the opposite is true, yet here you are making no distinction between the hugely different Arab countries claiming that Christians don’t have equal rights when in some Muslim-majority countries they have more rights than certain Muslim sects. I live here and I see this happening every day; I don’t know why some of you are insisting on telling a sob story that doesn’t exist.

Her point is that even the majority (Muslim) is discriminated against in Muslim nations, and as such it is hard to expect that the rights of minorities would be respected.

1) Christians don’t have the same rights as Muslim in the Arab world, there are some ranks in the government and the military that Christians can never get to.

Such is the case with many other minorites that are far worse off than Christians, such as the Baha’is or the Yezidis or Jews. In this particular country Christians are fully protected legally while other religious minorities are not. There are Christian representatives within the government and they live freely compared to others.

Secondly even Muslims themselves (the Shi’ites here, for example) cannot get certain ranks in the government or the military. So your case is not the most convincing one. There is discrimination against and between Muslims, how can you expect Christians to somehow get “equal rights” when the Muslim citizens themselves don’t have any rights at all?

1) Christians don’t have the same rights as Muslim in the Arab world, there are some ranks in the government and the military that Christians can never get to.

2) Lebanese Christians defended themselves in the 70′s and 80′s from the Palestinian militia (Fida’iyin) through the unity of the Christian parties under the name of “The Lebanese Forces”. They might have used excessive force, but they were under attack, and you know what they say “All is fair in love and WAR”, and it was war, it was war between people who took in guest who were kicked out of their countries and the guests, I’m sorry, but I put it as I see it!

As I see it, Gemayel and Geagea defended themselves and their people, sue them!! Wait, they killed Gemayel and Geagea was thrown in solitary prison for about 11 years, and now he’s out, while other “war criminals” weren’t even talked to or touched.

Anyway, no one should generalize about anything, not all Muslims are alike, nor are all Christians alike, but unfortunately, Danial started generalizing, and he got a reply for his comment! I’m not defending CedarPride, but he did cuss Christians way too much, especially Lebanese Christians which is a disgraceful and a very narrow-minded thing to do.

Know your facts, people.

I am proudly NOT an Arab. I am proudly a Maronite who does not have the subservient mentality of Arabs.

This kind of talk has fueled hatred, racism, and civil war for decades. You don’t have to associate yourself with any ethnicity; but for your sake and ours you don’t need to trash it with outrageous stereotypes and insults at every given opportunity. It’s just childish and abusive.

Samir Geagea is adored by the Christians? The Phalangists? We consider ourselves French? Get your facts straight. I would suggest you strart by checking the results of the elections of 2005 and the by-election of 2007 to see just how popular Amine Gemayel and Samir Geagea are among the Maronites. I would also suggest you check the relation of the Christians with France under Jacques Chirac.

I would also VERY MUCH recommend you check who Geagea and Gemayel are allied with and who is strengthening them in the Christian street and who is opening their castles for them.

And making the difference between Maronites and other Christians is utterly stupid. The ONLY division that does NOT exist in Lebanon is between Christians as sects, touch wood. When people say Maronites, it implicitely means Christians of Lebanon, as Maronites are the majority. Do your homework before spitting hatred based on stereotypes.

And also please check the Maronites’ positions during the Gaza war and who was putting Gaza under siege with the Israelis and starving it.

Hate for the sake of hating. That’s you, not us. The maronites rebelled against the militia of Samir Geagea in the late 80s, they cheered when he was jailed, and they voted against him in the last elections. I have yet to see Arabs do anything to free themselves from their unpopular leaders. I am proudly NOT an Arab. I am proudly a Maronite who does not have the subservient mentality of Arabs.

And Danial, I would love to see your revulsion against the massacres the Palestinians did against the Lebanese during the war, especially against the Maronites. It went both ways dear.

One thing is right. Most of us do not consider ourselves arab. And posts like the ones I read above are the main reason why!!!
