August 15th, 2008Esra'a (Bahrain)

Baghdad-born filmmaker Joe Balass alerted us that Baghdad Twist, his documentary film on Iraqi Jews, will be screened in the following locations and times:

DocuWeek showcase in Los Angeles (Aug. 22-28, 2008) where it will be playing for 7 days and it will also be screening at the Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 4-13, 2008) where it is in competition.

Here is a summary of the film:

Baghdad Twist is a visual memoir of one family’s life in Iraq before escaping to a new home in Canada in the fall of 1970. Featuring a never-before-seen collection of archival images, home movies and family photographs from Baghdad, the film pulls back the curtain on Iraq’s once thriving Jewish community.
