Take action. That's how you will put meaning into your "inspiring" words.

I couldn't agree more with that, Ray. There is often a big chasm between words and action. Talk is cheap.

The trick will be to take action which gives corporations and individuals the incentive to do good. People will act in their own best interest. Government is often able to institute policies which encourage people to do the right thing.

Our greatest challenges are three fold: the Economy, the Environment, and Extremism. Healthcare and the like, are part of the economic picture. I think it is possible, with the right kind of vision, to pass legislation, and to institute policies, which solve all three in one shot. Since these three problems are inter-related, and inter-connected, it makes sense that one solution could be used to solve all three.

Bottom line: You want to create good paying jobs around the world which protect the environment, and which help to stem the tide of extremist thinking. You want to Sell a Vision of Hope, which would give substance to the hope and change that Obama is talking about. And then you want to sustain the hope with public diplomacy, and when necessary, be willing to fight to realize a Vision of Hope.

The official confirmation of Barack Obama for presidential candidate is indeed a hallmark, but I am watching coverage on the choosing of Sarah Palin to be the vice-presidential candidate for the Republicans.
It seems that anyone who wants to make history in terms of race or gender based voting now has a choice...
"The women of America aren't finished yet"
I guess if one wants to drop so mammoth a ball the home of the Broncos is a fitting place...
Also, Governor Palin led off with a pretty powerful message, basically inviting further oil exploration in her home state to wean the US off Middle East Oil.
Not a visionary solution, but to be honest, people are getting a little tired of Hope as a policy. Some specific solutions need to be put forward, that are workable not only in a decade but right now, in the next six months, year, two years..
I'm in favour of Obama and crew winning, but to be quite honest they are going to have to start throwing some political punches on their own, because freezing Hillary out of the VP spot was a big mistake.
The health care and insurance issues that the US suffers from are only going to be solved when the entire basic medical system is nationalized, and I don't think a first term president is ever going to risk that kind of brawl.
Oh, and Ray? You cowboys stay on your side of the Beaufort Sea, and just remember that the NorthWest passage is ours.
