Our Young Offenders Act assumes a psychiatric disorder for such acts by a minor (under 16), not to mention our being signatories of Child Soldier legslation which basically says the same on an international level. Unfortunately, our government is being run at the moment by a group of neo-conservatives who wish we could have joined in the fun in Iraq and break their own procedural rules if they can get more power. Whatever legal principles and responsibilities my country has in this are unfortunately at the mercy of the "diplomatic prowess" of these Bush cheerleaders, and it looks like they are going to stay in power for now... Hopefully an Obama administration will step up and at least give Omar Khadr his day in court.
