what defines today iran is corruption, dictatorshib, economic maffia, poverty and anti-science and anti-intellectualism.

This is how we can describe the current government, but certainly not the Iranian people. Many Iranians are really advanced in several fields, especially science and literature, it's only the limitations placed by the government that disables them from truly progressing.

Hi angel,

what defines today iran is corruption, dictatorshib, economic maffia, poverty and anti-science and anti-intellectualism.

This is how we can describe the current government, but certainly not the Iranian people. The fact is that Iranians are not only very closely related to each other ethnically and culturally, but they are also very closely ethnically related to many of their neighbors, which have been separated by imperial powers throughout history. The opposite is true for countries such as the United States. People like Jason like to lie about how people are stoned in Iran while they support the fact that the United States is allied with brutal regimes who really do stone people.

Jason’s comments are typical of westerners who wish to cause instability in Iran. On a personal level, yes, the best antidote is to actually visit Iran, but that works for too few people. One quick and easy way in which the government of Iran can prove to the world that it is an honourable country is to recognize the bahai community as a legitimate religious community, stop persecuting individual bahais and preventing them from attending universities, and allow them to restore the bahai religious sites and graveyards that have been destroyed. That would take the world by surprise!

I agree that certain powerful media and politicians paint an unrealistically hysterical picture of Iran.
