Should I study in Iran?

I am a Bahraini student in my last year of high school and I’m seriously thinking of continuing my higher education in Iran.

The university I’m interested in is The University of Tehran, the one located in Kish. What is Kish like? Is it safe?

Basically what I’m asking here is….would you recommend me to study in Iran?

I’m Persian and really interested in learning better Farsi. Looking forward to your thoughts!

    Hi Layal, maybe you will find it interesting to study in Iran. The Kish campus of Tehran university is a very young compus. The Island was supposed to dedicate enough land to the Tehran University project, but I guess that will be some thing to pursue in the future, for time being a shabby mall has been reconstructed and remodelled into a university. The Island is safe, maybe boring some times because of its remoteness, but it is a beautiful Island. There are certain things you need to deal with if you decide to study in Iran. The dress code is a must, in the universities we don’t have that much freedom to openly discuss politics, students learn not to discuss political matters in the uviversity. Maybe for learning a better Farsi you will need to be in Iran and maybe you will find the whole thing interesting, for time being it is good to pay a visit to the Island whcih is not much away from Bahrain and then decide.

    You dont need to know farsi if you want to study in Kish universities. The system is english based.

    You need to wear dress code, but Kish island at general is more liberal than other parts of Iran. It’s a beautiful island with many shopping centers and some beautiful sights to have fun there.

    Iranian universities are good, they have good teachers and the university of Tehran is the first university opened in iran. There is Sharif university campus in kish too which has been opened long time before tehran university of Kish.

    I also recommend you to pay a visit and see if you can live there.

    Dear Layal,

    I do not recommand Kish branch of Tehran University. Its not like that Tehran University and is not that much scientific.
    Also Kish is a tiny land and makes man tired in long time stay. Its a trading island not a scientific one ;) Some of my friends studying in Kish are tired of the small place; everyone knows eveyone in island and girls after one month being in Kish are identified with people, so they decide to stay at dorms.
    If you want study in Iran, try to come in Iran’s large cities, such as Tehran, Isfehan or Shiraz. I suggest Tehran and Shiraz which are better for foreigners and have very good universities.
