Comic: Prison Break in Iran

January 27th, 2009Esra'a (Bahrain)

In recent months, Iran has escalated its campaign of arrests against Baha’is. Dozens of Baha’is currently languish in prisons, with no hope of being accorded a fair trial. Those reportedly arrested weren’t criminals, thieves or murderers but were in fact community leaders, social activists and educators who strove to serve their communities.

The Iranian regime has adopted the mission of preventing the progress of Baha’is, both within and outside Iran, and there is no telling how far it is willing to go to fulfill its mission.

Our CENSEO team has created a comic about the absurdity of this situation:

  1. You know if some authorities had a father who would squeeze them by the ear when necessary we wouldn’t have these problems in our country. In Persian we say : باش تا صبح دولتت بدمد
And that means : [ Oh you who oppress], wait untill the sun arise [ in the dark setting within the boundaries of your power].
The sun is not yet up.
One day we will have many of the Bahais as the officials of our country, since they represent a very gentle and noble community of our country. That is all I can say at the moment as an Iranian who lives within the borders of Iran, we don’t see the Bahais, they cannot even claim that they are Bahais, and every one confirms that they disrutb no one, that they have a religion or a beleif all for peace and mutual understanding, now what the authorities want? I declare they are either crazy or stupid or evil, in either case we just don’t want them.
