I didn’t know world war I, II were about religion. Israel-Palestine is also not about religion. But monotheist religion indeed separate humans into non-followers and followers.

Struggle for land/nationalism. Religion is just used as a justification.
I agree with Wladimir’s point about religion not being the root cause of the struggle in Gaza. Both Judaism and Islam have strong messages of peace and unity. The problem arises when people start twisting religious teachings to gain power and material benefit, and when governments start indoctrinating people with propaganda of fear.
In some sense, Lord Kavi, you are right about the division… I think Christianity has something about separating “weed from chaff” in reference to dividing between believers and non-believers.
One thing to consider though is:
IF these religions TRULY bring a message of God that is guiding humanity in its growth, then it is in the humanity’s best interest to follow it, and the division between followers and non-followers is unavoidable. The thing though is that we do have a free choice in terms what we do, and we should NEVER be persecuted for that choice by anyone. I don’t think religious teachings sanction any persecutions (at least not in the Baha’i teachings). This also does not mean you should love non-followers any less: God loves all, and so should we.
Answers to these questions of course depends on one’s faith.
I hope this makes some sense. These matters are extremely difficult to discuss in online forums, and person to person conversation would work so much better. I wanted to pitch in though because it is my belief that religions do carry the message of unity. People choose to corrupt it.

Lets see the problem straight. Land and Nationalism are justifications!
Ok, you may say the land is their problem. Let me ask another question, why Jews historically wanted this land and fighted for it? Their need for a land? I dont think so.
And why also Muslims wanted this land and are fighting for? What does this land have? Doesn’t its Jerusalem, its religious mosques and religious temples that worth fighting for?
Wasn’t this land the promised one which Yahweh promised Jews? Wasn’t there the mosque which Mohammed, Muslims prophet prayed to (and after conflict with Jews turned to Kaaba)?
Why Jews and Muslims can’t unite you think? I answer: because Jews believe they’re the god’s chosen ones and this land is the holly and Promised Land. And Muslims believe this land is holly for them too. Haven’t you read Bible and Quran? Please read them and be aware of their rules for non-followers. They have no friendship with each other! Be aware!

Then whats the cause you believe?
Why are you looking for the cause at the little period of time (Gaza war)? Why don’t you look for its real roots? Yes today it seems they’re fighting for land, but as I mentioned above (in comment to Wladimir), it’s not war of land! Religion is the root; land is justification!
They also have great messages of Jihad, war with non-followers and outsiders. Please read Bible and Quran once more.
Then you accept that religions had spread wars. Let’s think that we just dont know if the religions are good or bad, and let’s see their results: you accept that some had used religious teachings and gained power; that’s enough for an ideology to spread inconvenience and that’s my point when I said religions discriminate people and start conflicts between!
If Christianity has some things, then Islam and Jewish have many more things about division. I just notice their most important things: Jews are the best people of Yahweh but not the others. Muslims are who pray to Allah and say I testimony Allah as God and Mohammad as Prophet, then the others but those who have Book can be ravaged and killed. And sometimes in some circumstances its also for those who have Book, too.

I believe you’re a Bahai. Daniela, Bahai is much different from other religions. Baha, tried to repair some Islamic mistakes in governing people, freedom, political views and etc. I believe Bahai is very different and that’s why you as a Bahai think religions have message for human unity. We are not discussing Bahai here, but religions!
Dear all,
The song seems a nice little gesture. The arts have started only a short while ago to deeply focus on and deal with the Gaza-Israel injustice. Music is a great tool, people will listen to the song – sometimes without even realising the meaning in the beginning.
I do honestly believe in the power of music and their messages. Nevertheless I have lost faith with regards to this atrocious conflict.
I’m well aware that my opinion may be too harsh but this can certainly be seen as a sort of end product of the anger and despair I gained from the endless trouble in this region.
I want the conflict to be pushed on (in a political way!) instead of the continuing softness from people with colourful clothing and their sympathically well-intenioned grims.
Still, I hope music and other arts will eventually reach out to people from all ethnicities and background – be it Israeli, Palestinian, American or other.
