Podcast: How the internet changes the relationship between Israelis and Arabs, Iranians
In this week’s podcast I talked to Leah, an Israeli who’s using the internet to connect with Arabs and Iranians. Leah has been very active since the June 12 election in Iran, following the events in Iran and sharing the news with her fellow Israelis.
In this podcast we discussed the ways the internet and social media allow people in the region to see other perspectives and thus gain a better understanding of each other. We talked about how the relative freedom of expression online makes it harder to dismiss the “other.”

All people have a voice online. As technology progresses I think all the people of the world will speak on it. I didn’t fully understand how great it was until I thought about the discussions your having on this blog.

It was fascinating to hear you and Leah, thank you for the podcast Esra’a
Dears,
It would be funny to tell you that I (the “fanatic” Palestinian) was invited by an israeli friend whom I call “the settler” to join this site. The “fanatic” Palestinian and the Israel “settler” were friends before joining this site, as we met several times before and discussed lots of things for hours.
The internet has opened a very wide window for me not only to vent out my feelings and write to be heard by the world, but also to meet and make friends from (the other side of the wall) Israel as we could meet and discuss face to face even if 9and it is a human nature to be different) we disagree on different matters.
I was and still active in other sites, but i was silenced in one of them, that some sites cant accept diversity and want the “peacemakers” to be just a speaker-phone for their mouths but not free-thinkers, and they cant comprehend that free-thinkers cant be silenced in the age of internet and I should be thankful for you here for your tolerance !!!
Than you “settler” for inviting me here, it was more than worthing to try and vent out my bedouin hallucination!!!
