Great article, what the F is the deal with Rudy and Jim? Why are there so many a holes on the internet. Give someone a chance to comment and chances are they'll say something shitty!

Article was great and I think Shaj and the boys look smashing!

And just to let you know Rudy, we (taqwas) rebel against half wits like guys named after former NY mayors that have nothing constructive to say.

One thing to highlight here is that it is not 1970 anymore, and since that day, our identities became much more complex. What you missed is that these guys are also Americans. They find themselves somewhere in between backgrounds: Muslim, South Asian, AND American. They cannot be fit into a box, or put a simple label - in the same way as none of us can today. If you took the time to explore their music more, you would see that they rebel against all these communities. Their song, Rumi was a homo, for instance, mocks the homophobia in the Muslim community. Of course, one does not have to go far to find homophobia in the white American society as well.

I am not sure about the "rebel" tag being used in the article while describing the attitude, motto or objective of the creativity of the band and particularly the comparison with the rock rebels of USA from 60's and 70's. Why they are angry? Islamophobia? What about some introspection, mate? Pointing your fingers is very easy, but would you be "rebel" enough and protest against the dark sides of your own community? And there lies the difference. The music rebels in the US fought against their own establishment. They had the balls to speak out against their own country. Off course, not everyone was honest, but many of them were. But they never accused the other side for "misunderstanding" or "generalizing" them and, most importantly, accepted criticism. Sadly, the self-judgement part is absent from these pseudo-rebel bands. They thrive in the country of freedom of speech, and then rant profusely against the same country which allow them to scream against them. This might earn some brownie points in internet forums and politically correct mainstream media, but hypocracy remains hypocracy, whatever chords you play.

Damn, that singer looks like he's in bad shape. Can we get some healthy looking muslim musicians instead of these guys? I listened to their songs and im not too sure I'll listen again. Sounds like stuff out of 1995.
