What about us?
September 22nd, 2009Every year the U.S. remembers victims of 9/11 attacks, which analysts describe as the deadliest and most costly ever for the world’s only superpower.
In Iraq every four weeks we lose as many innocent lives as those killed by 9/11 attacks.
There is no way for the U.S. to forget the 9/11 victims and they must be remembered.
But do not you think there is injustice here. The U.S. lost 3,000 innocent lives on 9/11 and Iraq, which had nothing to do with the horrific attacks, has been losing at least 3,000 innocent victims every four weeks since 2003 U.S. invasion.
The tragedy is that the murderer of Iraqis, whether directly or indirectly, is the country which thinks it is too much to kill 3,000 innocent people and that their murder must be remembered and their death retaliated for.
How many innocent Iraqis has the U.S. killed since it illegally invaded Iraq in 2003? Who remembers them? Who will ever erect a small statue in their memory?
Kidnap, murder, soldier, explosion, army, militia, ambush car; these words are the pattern of vernacular of Iraqi children and their parents in the mayhem of Iraq.
Iraqis kidnapped and tortured, or wounded by car bombs, missiles and mortars, often exacerbated by improper medical care and severe infections, bear their wounds of war with determination and a patient shrug; for today in Baghdad, Sadr City, Anbar, Basra, Karbala, Kirkurt, Najaf, Diyala Sulaymaniyah, Qadisiyah, Babil, Dahuk, Arbil, Tam’mim, Salah ad Din; sufferance is the badge of all their tribe. In other words who are you going to complain to when everyone is facing the same situation.
In Iraq, the tens of thousands of war victims are faced with endless, often insurmountable obstacles to get even basic medical attention. After years of conflict, the Iraqi health-care system is overwhelmed by the constant influx of wounded patients who flood the hospital on a daily basis. Many doctors have been murdered and because of the violence, threats and kidnappings, those who can leave the country have done so, and are either refugees or have been able to resettle in the west. The remaining ones must tend to the most urgent, life-threatening cases first.
The only way for Iraqis to remember their hundreds of thousands of innocent victims is to stare at the Green Zone where the U.S. administration and military headquarters stay behind blast walls and slabs of concrete.
But do U.S. leaders realize that instead of honoring the innocent blood shed on 9/11 they lost and are still losing more lives and caused the death of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives.
The only way for the U.S. to honor 9/11 victims is to correct the blunders it has done in the wars waged to retaliate for their innocent souls, the US army will leave Iraq soon but the remains of the war and destruction in Iraq will remain ,especially with the weak ,corrupted government that was establish under Americans supervision and all it players were brought by Americans’ from aboard , democracy in Iraq ends on the voting boxes ,after that black corrupted hands from Iraqi political parties play games in front of the whole world and force the same corrupted system to live longer behind the strong walls of the green zone ,civil society is crippled in Iraq as all the money for empowering civil society goes to the pockets of organizations formed by the same politicians’ ,UN staff in Iraq knows that 90 % of Iraq money for aid and relief and building human rights and democracy goes wasted in projects that never leaves the ground , brave Iraq activists’ and journalists face death ,kidnapping or threats , many heroes die for truth and justices other were forced to live as refuges in countries that signed treaties under America pressure to return Iraqi asylum seekers so the Iraqi government can play the security stability song in front of the camera ,and the black Wednesday explosions’ last month in Baghdad is an evidence for that.
We became the other Arabic story like Palestine ,and as years pass by our blood keep laying fresh under the sun but no one cares ,every one is more worried about what next conflict the aljazera and CNN will broadcast ,
I am sorry for the death of American people in 11 September attacks ,and even the death of soldiers in Iraq ,cause when you see death standing laughing in your face as he takes the life of your friends ,family you value the souls of any human and feel the impact of the cruel action of taking a person life ,but I am just wondering why the whole world just stop giving a shit about our loses ,can not they see that in the last 48 hours 3 Iraqi children between 5 to 8 years old were dead by bombes planted for US and Iraqi armies cars ,and this is only in Mosul providence ,let us not mention the 35 civilians died in babl or the 3 to 5 deaths in Baghdad ,these became every day news ,some channels do not even bother to mention.
I just wonder and say why the silence? ,where is the human rights? ,where is peace day? And what about us?

They (the west) only see their victims… they give themselves the excuse to lie of “mass distruction” weapons to kill millions of the Iraqis and arabs without blinking and come to teach us of “human rights”…
Why do you believe in them and their canned “democracy”, in the first place?
they feel pity for the atrocious zionists and back them with the most fatal weapons and dont see the zionist artillery and nuclear weapons used against civilians, but lie and lie of the Iraqi “mass destruction” weapons !!! Do you see how they are hypocrite? Do you see how liar they are?
I dont believe them anyway, and I believe the only way is to fight them and kick them out of Iraq and Palestine… this is the only way we can get free and dismiss their hypocrite discourse of “human rights” and “democracy”…. what lies they use to enslave the arabs !!!
They not only dont see our victims but they also kill us in masses without blinking at the time they feel pity for a dying whale in the Pacific…. they dont have hearts but blinded by their plunderous greed for the oil of the arab and use “human rights” as a tool to keep enslaving us and plundering our resources !!! For me, there is no reconciliation with the devil but to fight him and kick him out of our homes!!!
Sami, the bedouin
as an american, i am sorry to see the death and destruction daily occurring-
Dear Sami,
Halabja.
Crosspost from the linked blog:
It is grossly unfair to characterise lives lost in Iraq as some sort of payback for 9/11. No one thinks of the war that way, and people, with the possible exception of the fringe left, are rooting for fewer cassualties, not more.
The Iraq war was intended to remove the Saddam Hussein from power, both for the benefit of Iraqis and for the benefit of the region and world. It was also intended to fill the vacum with a democratic state, again for everyones benefit. It has succeeded on both counts, and while the battles rage on, our part in them is coming to a close. The partisan battles over whether to abort the mission or see things through have already come to a close, hence the loss of interest.
I sympathise with your frustration over corruption, but you have at your disposal tha same crude tools with which we try to keep it in check here at home. I am not at all convinced that we could do a better job fighting it from a continent away than you are in the midst of it, and I am quite certain that we could not do so without infringing on your right to self rule.
For better or worse you are on your own now, and you have the means with which to shape your own destinies. Good luck.
Sincerely
Tor
HA! HA! HA!
Because it’s not like the fighting is the reason we are forced to stay. And by the way, we are leaving Iraq, not because the violence became unmanagable (we surged when that happened), but because it declined enough for the Iraqis to handle on their own.
Indeed, there is no greater scourge of freedom than talk of “human rights” and “democracy”
It is just dawning on me that this might be intended as satire. If so you hit the nail on the head, and I apologize for being tonedeaf. If not, seek help.

Tor,
Yes, I believe you… The “benevolent” Americans did all what they did just to help the Iraqis and the Arabs for the God’s sake !!! Funny
Which part of “and the world” did you not comprehend? Hussein was a pain in nearly everyones backside. The fact of the matter is that Iraqis, on balance, have benefitted. from his removal as well.
If you will neither defend your rather outrageous statements, nor disown them, then then my mockery will stand, and you remain exposed as a raving lunatic.
I agree, what about the Iraqis?
Tor – if you were in Iraq too then you’d probably be thinking exactly what this article is asking.
