November 19th, 2009Fatima (Saudi Arabia)

We are happy to share the with you the news that The March 18 Movement (OR318), won a 2009 ThinkSocial Award for “outstanding innovation” and representing a “powerful model for how social media can be used to address global problems”. We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the people who have expressed their support and voted for OR318.

The March 18 Movement was launched after the tragic death of Omid-Reza Mir Sayafi, an Iranian blogger, who died in Evin Prison on March 18, 2009. Omid-Reza was the first blogger to die in prison. The March 18 Movement advocates for free speech and calls for an end to all persecution of bloggers who dare speak their mind in closed societies. ThinkSocial is an initiative dedicated to advancing the use of social media in the public interest.
