Pouyan,

By corporations I meant the companies that do business with governments such as the Islamic Republic. Like Siemens or Yahoo. As I said these companies may be based in specific countries, but they do not represent the interests of the nation itself.

No I did not mean NGOs or grassroots at all. Those organizations base their income, as you said on financial support or donations.

@Hamed:

I am really not sure what you mean by corporation, but I would like to differ if you mean NGOs and grassroots. One cannot deny that such organizations, like any other, are in need of financial support in order to keep on working, but it cannot be said that their end is to maximize their financial benefits.

just because a politician may say he will do something, it doesn’t mean that he will follow through

Precisely.

The whole point of democracy is not to have better politicians, but to be able remove the truly awful ones through non-violent means.

Good analysis of political culture.

i think we need to understand that just because a politician may say he will do something, it doesn't mean that he will follow through. Every politician has constituents that he/she needs to pay off; whether it be favors, financial aid, the passing of certain legislation or whatever. We also need to understand that those corporations don't represent the interests of the countries where their H.Q.s are located in, but are only seeking to increase their capital gains.
