IraqiStreets.com was the brainchild of three Iraqi civil society youth activists to provide a free space to express the interests and concerns of the Iraqi people and to support and encourage young Iraqis bloggers on creating opportunities for the dissemination and communication with others in spite of the challenges in Iraq today’s

We worked on promoting and advocating campaigns that supports Iraqi civil society, media freedom, the preservation of the environment and other causes closer to the reality of people and their needs.

The site also offers the service of promotion and presentation of medical cases to create chance for treatment for patients, particularly children, and contributed to in providing an opportunity of free advertising for candidates during the Iraqi elections

We participated in several events and forums in the field of media and blogging inside and outside Iraq, also we were one of the selected sources internationally to follow up on the Iraqi elections updated by Global Voices (GV) in coordination with the Hamzoz blog we covered the elections in both Arabic and English, audio and video, Using modern technologies in the dissemination of news, analysis and dissemination of all developments in the political arena in Iraq.

Iraqi streets has joined several networks on the web concern with freedom of speech and created a network of more than 5000 members through e-mail around the world with a variety of disciplines (civil society, media, bloggers, journalists .. etc) and more than 600 members within its own on the social site “Facebook”, in addition to blogging friends.

As we enter our second year on the web, we hope to be on as much involved in the capacity building and to provide more space for all young people to express through modernization of mechanisms of deployment and update and providing special accounts, to our editors, bloggers, journalists and the general public and provide a space for interactive dialogue in all languages ( Arabic, English and Kurdish) and other languages.

It was not possible to continue the streets Iraq for a full year without the support of our liberators, friends, followers from believer in freedom, peace and dialogue that have been developed as a basis for the objectives of the site, among which we thank the site Middle East youth and IAA Iraqi alamal association a civil society organization operating in Iraq in the field of capacity building of young people through one of the programs (WIT) and a life line group in Netherlands for providing a technical support, technical and moral support to the site.

As we enter our second year we hope to be able to contribute effectively in the activities that serve the Iraqi people and that we can create a bridge between the written material and practical application on the ground.
