Mosul invents new way to fight the heat
Poor service and constant interruption of power to push the people in The town of Mosul, 405 km north of Baghdad, to the use of water sprinklers that have spread recently in the markets and shops, in the month of Ramadan that came with a very high rise in weather temperatures.
Many of the shopkeepers in the markets of Mosul have built this outdoor shower, combined with a plastic tube and placed at the front of their stores to cool the passers-by and citizens during the fasting month of Ramadan with the continued power outages.
A man carrying in his hands the bags of fruit and vegetables stops for a few minutes to cool down in the “shower,” this has became normal in the conservative city.
People believe this initiative is good especially since it is the month of Ramadan, in the intense heat as people fasting feel tired and need water. The charitable initiative quickly spread to the markets of Mosul, which suffer most of the provinces of Iraqi due power outages ranging from 8 to 16 hours a day, with temperatures that exceed 40 degrees Celsius on most days of July and August, which exacerbated the suffering of Iraqis.
Akram Saad, owner of a shop selling hand tools has to develop a “shower” in front of his shop did not hide his fears of governmental bodies to intervene to prevent this “charitable initiative” “monitors are part Municipality within our they stop us from using the shower and asked us to lift” and asked, “Why are we raising and we want to alleviate our suffering a bit with high temperatures and power outages.”
The Iraqi government and politicians to “improve services during the month of Ramadan and care about the people and make some kind of interest in him and not worry about conflicts over chairs and forget the worries of people that I took them to the chairs,” noting that the spread of the shower “is just a sign of bad services. ”
